1959 TRIUMPH TR3A
For Restoration
This 1959 Triumph TR3A has been in storage for a long time. It was recently taken out of a barn in Ohio, together with a 1960 TR3A and a modest collection of motorcycles. The cycles were stored one floor above the cars, causing leaking battery acid to drip on top of the body. Lots of surface rust, but fortunately the car has very little rust damage as a result of this.
The rust damage is more serious in the areas where it is to be expected: floors, inner and outer fenders, lower front fenders and some smaller holes in the boot floor and spare wheel floor (which can be patched). The chassis looks structurally solid, with obvious surface rust, but expect a small amount of work after bead blasting. We believe the original colours to be red (Sunset Red?) with red interior trim (painted over in black with yellow piping at some point).
Body, commission (chassis) and gearbox numbers look to be matching. The engine is a CT unit from a Triumph TR4. The engine turns by hand. The car looks to be mostly complete; please check the pictures for all items that are included with the sale.
It comes with EU import documents (duties paid). The car does not have a title, but could be registered in many countries nevertheless. Please check this with your local authorities and take into account that a production certificate can be acquired through the British Motor Museum. Transportation to most European countries can be organised at competitive rates.
