1961 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA SPRINT

A former Rally of the Tests winning steed (2017), this Alfa Romeo is the ideal entrant for Winter Challenge, Classic Marathon , Rally of the Tests, and a plethora of club and international events.
Sourced and imported from Norway in 2008, #353276 was originally restored and prepared for motorsport in 2001 by Saul Manashe in Norway.  It has been comprehensively prepared, fettled and upgraded by Kevin Savage Motorsport of Lancashire and now features full roll cage, uprated shock absorbers, an engine coolant header tank, limited slip differential, comfortable rally-grade front seats, additional instrumentation and two Cibie Oscar driving lamps.
Our car was sourced and developed for known Irish motorsport competitor, Dermot Carnegie, at a cost of more than £32,000 in 2008 with invoices detailing the considerable work undertaken and all available for viewing.   Dermot campaigned the car successfully winning the Winter Trial and Rally of the Tests in 2010, all the while having the car maintained and prepared by Savage.
Amongst the many invoices from Carnegie’s ownership, perhaps the most notable reference a gearbox rebuild in December 2010 (£3,300), and engine rebuild in November 2011 at a cost of £5,700, which resulted in a recorded 137bhp on the rolling-road.
The reins passed in 2013 to the current keeper with whom many further successes have been enjoyed, always under the watchful eye and reassurance of being Savage Motorsport maintained.
In total, there are too many invoices to do justice to the car here, but suffice to say they combine to further evidence the winning-capability of this Alfa Romeo, and those who travel to view the car will be richly rewarded by the level of detail and expertise that they document within.
Accompanied with FIVA Identity Card dated 2013, and MSA/FIA Historic Regularity Rally Log Book numbered 10/009 & signed and dated 2010, save for minor preparation works to comply with individual rally regulations, this is a turn-key competitive entrant to a host of blue-ribband events.
Priced incredibly sensibly, we dread to think what the replacement cost may be today…..
“Cars with a purpose” is our favourite stock-offering, & they don’t get much more determined than this!

1962 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1300 - Absolute Classic Cars Silvertrees Farm Westmoor Lane Kettlethorpe Lincoln LN1 2JW

1962 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1300
Needing no real introduction, the Volkswagen Beetle, the 'Peoples car' has remained in production for almost 80 years and retains a charm and character that has endeared it to the hearts of over 21 million drivers! With its air-cooled engine in the rear, straight forward mechanics, oodles of interior space, style in abundance the Beetle is seen for many is the perfect classic car and whether its an early oval window, split screen or a latter 'Jeans' or 'Marathon' limited edition there are cars around to suit enthusiasts young and old alike.
Delivered to its first keeper on the 15th Aug 1972 this simply staggering Volkswagen Beetle 1300 shows a genuine 15980 miles from new and comes with the following specification

  • 1300 engine with 44bhp.
  • 4 speed manual gearbox.
  • Sumatra Green exterior (code: L61B).
  • Alabaster leatherette interior (code: 52).
  • Blaupunkt radio.
Walking around the car, gazing at the interior, listening to the engine, the driving experience this car just speaks - originality! The Sumatra Green bodywork has a wonderful lustre, the panel gaps remain entirely original, the sound of the door shutting is completely Germanic, engineered to perfection and precise and showing the odd touched-in stone chip helps to confirm that we feel the car has never received any paintwork in its life. The exterior chrome-work remains in first class condition, window / door rubbers are all 'like new' and the glass is free from any hazing or scratches. Everything is just right, the Octane sticker inside the fuel filler, the original Volkswagen rear mud flaps, this Beetle would happily grace any collection.

Opening the door to the interior and you can't help but be 'wowed' by how fantastic it is. The Alabaster seats / door cards have zero wear and all the knobs, switches, sun-visors etc look like they've never been touched. Completely charming, light and airy this little 'Bug' is what some would regard as 'factory fresh' !
Mechanically the Beetle is a marvel too. Without so much a hint of throttle, the car starts instantly from cold and settles to an offbeat tick-over as any flat-4 would. The gearbox is crisp and direct, brakes work perfectly, she's just a great driving car and the only dilemma we find ourselves in is whether we should or shouldn't jump in the car and take her on a 100 mile trip or a weekend away!
Owned by the previous keeper for some 22yrs we're advised that until 1996 the car was still fitted with its original crossply tires and with the exception of normal service items the car is exactly as she left the factory.....even now she still has her original exhaust! With some 30 previous MOTs dating back to 1976 (and indicates there have been a few years where she's remained dormant), 18 previous Tax Discs, her original owners manual and 2 keys this amazing classic has averaged less than 350mile/yr over the last 46 years! Surely one of the most original, low mileage examples available this '72 Volkswagen Beetle is now ready to be cherished by her new owner and will undoubtedly be admired by all who see her.

(Left Hand Drive)

EQUIPMENT
Electric folding hood, Hood cover with storage bag, Electrically adjustable and heated seats, Electrically adjustable door mirrors, Electric windows, Cruise control, Air conditioning, Original Jaguar cassette player, Lockable glove compartment, Lockable rear stowage compartment, Jack and wheel brace with storage bag, Jaguar tool box, Spare wheel, Spare keys.

EXTERIOR
The marvelous Kingfisher Blue paintwork presents with a gorgeous metallic sheen, complemented well by the classic red and silver pinstripe running along both sides. The body remains in excellent rust-free condition throughout, free from any conspicuous marks or signs of age; the underside is also extremely fresh. Up above, the spotless soft-top operates efficiently at the touch of a button, tucking away beneath its cover when not in use. Looking closer, both bumpers and all items of trim are unmarked.

INTERIOR
The fabulous Doeskin upholstery is pristine throughout. There are absolutely no blemishes to the supple leather seats, door cards, or adjoining trim. The walnut inlays are in equally fine fettle and remain glossy, with no signs of any sun damage to report. Similarly, the airbag steering wheel still looks new, retaining a factory-fresh texture. The carpets are also unmarked and are protected in the foot-wells by a set of tailored mats. Behind the seats is a large lockable stowage compartment, and in the boot area you’ll still find the alloy spare wheel, jack and complete Jaguar tool kit.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The smooth V12 idles up to temperature quietly and without fuss. The engine bay is remarkably clean and perfectly in keeping with the car’s low mileage. There is no corrosion to any of the inner panels or components, giving the impression of a much younger vehicle. On test the Jaguar pulls effortlessly through each of the gears.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Shod in a matching set of Michelin Energy tyres the 15-inch lattice wheels fill the arches nicely. The alloys remain in superb original condition with only the tiniest of marking to one or two of the wheels to report. The tyres present with plenty of tread and the brakes perform well.

HISTORY FILE
First registered in January 1992 the XJS has now covered a mere 37k miles. The paperwork is complete with the dealer-supplied Jaguar document holder and original handbooks. The car was most recently serviced in 2017 just 650 miles ago. It has very recently arrived in the UK following a life on the salt-free roads of Japan. It will be supplied fully registered for UK road use and ease of export.
