1960 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO

THE CAR
Here is our stunning 1960 Chevrolet El Camino 283. Selected by our Canadian colleagues and imported by Roman Garages, this is a rare sight in the UK. Its the first generation of El Camino and was made only in 1959 and 1960, with the ’60 model smaller and incorporating some basic design changes. It has passed its MOT without advisories and is registered with UK age related plates. Recorded mileage is 13616 although this isn’t warranted. The vehicle has been restored in Canada and benefits from worthwhile upgrades.

ENGINE AND GEARBOX
This El Camino is fitted with the bulletproof Chevrolet 283ci V8. With its burbling V8 engine and 2-speed auto on the column, it starts, runs and drives exactly as it should and has a very respectable turn of speed.  This truck pulls strongly through the rev range and the gearbox changes smoothly both up and down the box, as well as kickdown.

THE INTERIOR
The interior sports a turquoise and white bench seat with more than enough room for three. The condition of the seat, headlining and door cards is very good and the attractive period instrument cluster houses working dials and switches. The floor is fully carpeted to match the interior decor.

THE EXTERIOR
Our Chevy El Camino is in fabulous condition for a vehicle of nearly 60 years old. Painted in a metallic turquoise, with all the proper chrome detailing, this is a real beauty. The paintwork is very good and the chromework is excellent. The looks of the pickup are set off by a set of wide chrome wheels with chrome hubcaps. One very important benefit is a front disc brake conversion which powerfully pulls the truck up in all conditions. The large steering wheel is required for the unassisted steering box, and for the era of North American vehicle is quite reasonably precise.

HISTORY
This car was spotted by our North American team, and imported by ourselves. We understand that this vehicle has been the recipient of a full restoration whilst in Canada, and it is clear from the tangible upgrades and general condition that a lot of money has been lavished on it. There is no written confirmation of mileage, so the recorded figure should be regarded as unwarranted.

CONCLUSION
When did you last see one?  More eye-catching than a Ferrari, rarer than a Maserati and with a fantastic sound track, this Chevrolet must be seen to be fully appreciated. It drives like a much newer vehicle and has ample power and torque for all situations. We thoroughly recommend a visit to our Grantham premises for a test drive. Its priced to sell, so be quick! Our number is 01476 563001. The car is offered with a 3 month extendable warranty.
