1947 MORRIS LC3

1947 Morris LC3 Ice Cream/Coffee/Catering Van. This is an interesting vehicle having spent it's whole life up to 1975 as a NAFFI canteen van on Pirbright Camp. The van was then purchased in a derelict state and taken to Kent where it was meticulously restored and converted over a period of a further 30 years! The end result is a period vintage van with modern freezers and a new 2 group Espresso machine. Bodily and chassis this van is 'as new' the engine runs well and surprsingly for 1947 is OHV. We have used the van for events this year and it is totally self contained. The coffee machine runs on gas or electricity and the massive freezer will freeze down overnight and be cold enough to last all day, or it can be plugged into mains or run off a generator. The Burco hot water boiler runs off gas. There is also an inverter with a leisure battery and it has its own gas bottle and water tank, all in all very well thought out and is ready for work.
We have a pictorial history of the Van complete with photos before, during and after restoration. We also have all the letters and correspondence when the van was purchased from the Army. It would be hard to restore one of these commercials for the asking price, let alone source the vehicle or convert it to it's present use. The van drives well although is not particularly fast, due to its age it is not subject to an MOT although the brakes, steering etc seem to work really well.
