2002 SMART CROSSBLADE ROADSTER
LIMITED EDITION
No 281 UK Supply L/Miles

The Crossblade was a 2002 special edition vehicle based on the Cabrio FORTWO of the city car. This concept car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor show in March 2001 where it created such hysteria that Smart put the car into production as a limited run of only 2000 cars worldwide (all lhd). The cars were individually numbered and this is No 281. We are advised that only 10 cars were actually sold in the UK and this is one of those ten. It has a Brabus tuned 600cc engine which is 3 cylinder with a turbocharger putting out 70bhp out of a car weighing just 740kg. It also has an automated sequential 6-speed gearbox. This vehicle has covered a mere 6600 miles from new and was part of a private collection for some time. All models came in glossy black finish contrasting with the matt titanium grey powder coated finish of the TRIDION safety cell. The seats are finished in a fiery red upholstery and discreet leather fittings are dyed black. A transparent windshield which is reminiscent of a visor on a helmet is fitted over the cockpit area.

The Crossblade is fitted with double elliptical headlights with special rear lights consisting of LED fittings. It is based on an all-weather, all-seasons cabriolet. In addition, there are special drain points in the floor where rainwater will drain fully away and the seats are fully waterproof. This example is fitted with 16 3 spoke Brabus racing alloy wheels, waterproof interior, car cover, locking petrol cap, sport seats, digital speedo, radio/multi-stack CD system, overmats, cupholders,The history folder includes current V5 and MoT, key tags, 2 sets of keys, previous Mot certificates and related paperwork, radio info, HPi report, vehicle specification report, various invoices, service history book containing service history of PDi, 1800 miles, 4600, 6300 service, full 6 book bookpack, original book pack holder and smart crossblade write-ups.I have to say we have been overwhelmed by how good they are to drive, great fun and causes a stir where ever you go.This car would adorn any car collection especially if you are into the Mercedes marque. This very rare car, in our opinion, will turn into a good investment.

1959 MERCEDES BENZ 190 SL (LHD)

Produced between May 1955 and February 1963, the 190 SL prototype was first seen at the New York Auto show in 1954 and would be made available with an optional removable hard-top. This two-door super luxury roadster shared many stylistic features of the iconic 300SL, it’s easy to see how the elegant and sophisticated profile of this model inspired celebrities and personalities of the 1950’s era including Grace Kelly and Zsa Zsa Gabor. The reliable four-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed manual gear-box made for a rewarding drive. For the first few years of production, the 190SL was available as a sports racing model with aluminium doors, small plexiglass windscreen and one-piece leather racing bucket seats. In 1959 the hard-tops rear window was enlarged.

Vehicle Overview.
Having been subject to a sympathetic restoration recently, this 190SL really presents well. This car was originally delivered to Italy and exported to Japan then recently imported back to the U.K. Having spent the vast majority of its life in warm dry climates, this example has no costly corrosion issues other examples sadly suffer from. The paint code DB50 White coachwork is totally blemish free and works fantastically with the elegant lines of this model.
The interior of this example also presents beautifully. The Maroon (242) leather seats and trim is all in excellent order. Many original features remain including all VDO dials and gauges, gear knob and note the original FM Blaupunkt Stereo.

Having satisfied our 131 point extensive mechanical inspection upon arrival, faults if any will have been identified and rectified. Within the history file for this car you will discover a mass of documents detailing a recent mechanical overhaul carried out by a marque specialist in Japan.
Still sitting upon its original 13’ ventilated steel wheels in near perfect condition wearing correct Michelin radial tyres. The brakes perform well on a test and have ample stopping power.
Import documents. Current V5. Presentation folder full of recent invoices and documents. 131 mechanical report. To be sold with up to date MOT.

Restored over 3000 hours with a full photographic record in Italy to concours standard. Featured on the front cover of Auto d, Epoca Feb. 2002 (copy in file) which is testament to the level of time and skill attributed to it,s restoration. With the car is a large picture file and technical information plus original Italian registration papers and Automobile Club D,Italia papers. Having been part of a significant private UK collection since 2005 this is a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of early post-war Fiat motoring history of which only 4 examples of this design survive. 1973 PORSCHE 911 2.4S

A superb left-hand drive matching numbers example supplied new in the fantastic period colour of Tangerine with a black interior featuring Recaro seats with lovely houndstooth inserts. The car is in excellent order throughout and drives beautifully following an extensive renovation programme only recently completed.

Originally supplied to the Italian market, this 2.4 S was ordered without sunroof and with manual windows. After many years in Italian ownership, the car was purchased by a Dutch enthusiast, in 1998. Following its arrival in the Netherlands, the Porsche was dispatched to a specialist for a full inspection and report, a copy of which is on file. This showed the car to be in good remarkably original order with some areas requiring attention. Over the next few years, a great deal of work was completed as indicated by the many invoices on file from a Dutch Porsche main dealer and specialists.

In 2002 the Dutch owner sold the car to a British enthusiast, a letter on file confirms the sale and documents the extensive work completed whilst the car was in The Netherlands. Now in London, the Porsche continued to be very well looked after and maintained with a vast number of invoices from Porsche specialist Leigh’s Garage in Fulham.

Although in good usable order it was decided in 2013 that the car would benefit from some restoration. To this end, the car was stripped down and the drivetrain removed, this work and the engine rebuild being completed by respected specialists R and D Automotive in Manchester. Invoices on file show the engine was fully rebuilt with new old stock Mahle pistons. Meanwhile, the body shell was stripped and refinished in the original shade of Tangerine. Following reassembly, the car was dispatched to marque experts Autofarm for completion. Invoices and photographs on file document the extensive, very detailed work completed. This included a gearbox rebuild, suspension struts and setup, engine detail, new salt/pepper carpet, wheel refurbishment and a myriad of fine detail work. A newly refurbished period Becker Grand Prix radio and matching Cocomat overmats provide the icing on the cake!

Following this work, we sold the Porsche to a frequent customer and friend of Hairpin where it joined his enviable private collection of high-quality cars. He has used and maintained the car very carefully during his tenure and today the little Porsche presents itself in superb condition throughout. It is very well sorted and drives beautifully, clear evidence of extensive fettling by those who know. It comes complete with an extensive history file documenting work completed over the years and original toolkit.

Offered here is a very original example of the sought after 911 T which was first registered in 1970. The bodywork is described as: "very bright with no rust, straight shut lines and nice body panels. The engine is very sweet and it drives beautifully."
Introduced at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the basic Porsche 911 design would run virtually unchanged for twenty-nine years. Ferdinand Porsche had been working on the design since the late fifties as a better performing replacement for the 356. Today, his design still underpins the production of Porsche AG of Stuttgart. Before long, the merits of using the Porsche 911 in competitive motorsport became apparent and history records it as one of the most successful campaigners of all time. From the 24 Hours of Le Mans to grass-roots motorsport, the 911 offered reliable performance in many guises.

1970 the C-Series 911 was introduced with a larger bore to give a capacity of 2165cc, producing 125bhp and now badged as a "T". Alterations to suspension points improved the handling and gave the steering a better on centre feel.
