G588 ALE started life as an Alfa Romeo 33, but was used as a base for a Minari body. Registered as Alfa Romeo 33 CL2 'Sports' on the V5C. These rare kits have a loyal following and cars do not often come on to the market. Although having a current MoT, further cosmetic work is required and attention to setting up the twin carburettors is recommended. Complete with rare hard top and Minari paperwork. Four registered owners on the V5 with the previous keeper for fourteen years.

1978 MGB ROADSTER

1978 MGB Roadster in sunny yellow! This roadster was well restored several years ago (early 2000's) and was then used until 2012 when it was laid up in a car port. We recently rescued it, and have recommissioned the car to running order, fitting a new battery, water pump, clutch master, slave and hose, rear wheel cylinders and given the car a thorough service.
The car has quite a few desirable extras, a Mota Lita leather steering wheel, roll bar, stainless steel exhaust, comfy black vinyl seats (instead of the usual orange deck chair material!), Kenlowe adjustable fan, and an overdrive gearbox.
The hood is in very good order as are the seats and carpets as well as the 'MG' logo rubber mats.
The car starts easily and runs well, nice and quiet with good oil pressure and no smoke or rattles. The overdrive clicks in and out easily and the car generally drives very well.
The paintwork does have a few blemishes as may be expected, but the overall appearance in quite smart, and structurally the car seems very sound.
The car has had 6 owners, the one before last being the MG club recommended restorer Tim Kelly from St. Agnes.
This is a good, sound, useable MGB Roadster with a few nice extras that has a fresh MoT and has just been serviced, just tax and insure it (which is very reasonable with a classic car policy), and have some fun this summer!!

Merryweather & Sons Ltd, fire engineers since 1692, is a name that has been associated with fire-fighting for over 300 years.
AEC was established in 1912 building buses, motor coaches and lorries. The acronym stood for the Associated Equipment Company and they soon became one of the largest and most successful manufacturers in Britain.
An association between these two well-established companies resulted in the AEC Mercury Merryweather Turntable Ladder Fire Engine, which became a familiar sight in many towns and cities of Britain. Manufactured during the 1950s and 1960s by Merryweather & Sons Ltd of London, the appliance used the Southall-manufactured AEC Mercury chassis fitted with fully enclosed Merryweather-manufactured cabs and bodywork. Merryweather also installed the 100 ft hydraulic turntable ladder
The AEC Merryweather TL used the AV470 six cylinder in-line diesel engine with a capacity of 7,658cc (467 cubic inches – hence the 470 tag) producing approximately 140bhp. Although AEC went out of business in 1979, these Mercury-based turntable ladders continued in service for many years, those in the London Fire Brigade starting to be withdrawn from use in 1986, all being de-commissioned and sold out of service by 1992 when traditional turntable ladders were being phased out in favour of more technologically advanced high-reach appliances.
Dating from 1966, this particular vehicle was in regular service with the London Fire Brigade based in Greenwich until 1988 when it was deemed too expensive to keep in working condition. Numerous reports are on file listing minor defects during its working life; items such as poor wipers and dim headlights.
The final report details more serious issues with wear and tear on the ladder, reporting excessive lateral movement between 81ft and 93ft – which must have been very alarming for the poor fireman at the top trying to hold on. At the time of cataloguing the V5 could not be readily located but it is still registered on the DVLA database and the file does include a handy instruction manual on the Pumping Engine used in the Merryweather Turntable Ladder. Before joining the Stondon Collection, it was used in the TV series 'London’s Burning' and could doubtless earn a good living as a film prop in the future.
This lot will be available to view at Stondon Museum (SG16 6JN) on Friday 5th June. Although this vehicle will be offered for sale at Brightwells (HR6 0DE) it will need to be collected from Stondon.Due to where the vehicle is currently stored, collection may not be possible for up to 4 weeks after the auction..

For our pick today we have chosen an icon vehicle that has almost disappeared from our roads  but thanks to the TV comedy "Only Fools & Horses" has become collectable.

Never has a vehicle been so inextricably associated with a popular television show than the scruffy yellow Reliant three-wheeler driven by Del Boy and Rodney Trotter in the long-running BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
The van is frequently and incorrectly referred to as a Reliant Robin, but is actually a Reliant Regal Supervan. This most unlikely of motoring icons now enjoys something of a special place in British culture as a symbol of lovable wide boy eccentricity.
The original Regal car was launched in 1953 along with a light-commercial version with a side-hinged rear door which was marketed as the Regal Supervan. These early Regals had aluminium bodies and 747cc side-valve engines but in 1956 a MkIII version was launched with glass-fibre body panels replacing the aluminium, still mounted on a wooden frame. In 1962 a MkVII version came out with a new OHV engine, a new steel chassis and unitary body construction featuring a bonded shell which no longer required the wooden frame. The Regal also had a facelift with updated styling and a variety of specifications.
Such was the success of these small vehicles that in April 1968, a year before BMC celebrated their two-millionth Mini, Reliant sales director TH Scott personally drove the 50,000th Regal off the assembly line at Reliant's Tamworth plant.
In August 1968, the Regal was fitted with the 700cc version of the Reliant engine which produced 30bhp. The 21E versions were fitted with 21 extras, which were otherwise available as optional extras to the standard car. These extras included a spot light, a fog light, chrome plated bumper over-riders, sun visors, an oil gauge, outer wheel trims and metallic paint.
In 1973, after a production run of 20 years, the Regal and the Supervan were replaced by the Reliant Robin. The Trotters' original van from the TV series is now on display in the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, but such is the attraction of the show that many other surviving yellow Supervans have received the 'Trotters Independent Traders' treatment.
Originally painted blue (like the vast majority of Reliant three-wheelers), it was given a repaint in 'Trotter yellow' some time ago and comes with no paperwork other than a current V5C and was last taxed for the road in 1988.
With so many of these vans having been exported to the US and Japan, you’d be a right plonker to miss out on this one!

 1929 RILEY BROOKLANDS SPECIAL 

£67,000 A beautifully constructed Riley Brooklands Replica with a rebuilt engine from an original Riley Brooklands. Registered December 1929 this superb car is finished in red with complementing black leather upholstery and has many original and highly desirable parts.
The engine has been rebuilt and needs running in having only done 200 miles in 2 years. It was from an original Brooklands and has the large sump (11 pints!),`rat trap` oil filler (not fitted but included), 4 branch external exhaust and twin Su`s. This particular engine has Phoenix crank and rods, Newman cams to Sprite spec, Omega domed pistons, double valve springs and a block that has been bored and honed to standard. A mag conversion has been carried out and an original BTH mag is included.
The body is copied from the Ards winning car body using original methods of ash clothed in aluminium and the whole is finished off with 19 inch bolt on wheels shod with Blockley tyres.
The instrument panel is a joy with chronometric 6″ rev counter, speedo and the correct Rotax switch panel. The steering column is original to 1929 with the steering wheel and levers from a Brooklands.
A superb car ready to be rallied or campaigned.
