1999 JAGUAR XJ220
The Jaguar XJ220 two-seater supercar produced by British luxury car manufacturer from 1992 until 1994, in collaboration with the specialist automotive and race engineering company Tom Walkinshaw Racing at Bloxham in Oxfordshire. The XJ220 held the record for the fastest production car throughout 1992 after recording a top speed of 213 mph (343 km/h). The Jaguar held the Nurburgring production car lap record between 1992 and 2000 with a time of 7:46.36.
The initial XJ220 concept car was unveiled to the public at the 1988 British International Motor Show held in Birmingham, UK. The positive reception prompted Jaguar to put the car into production; some 1500 deposits of £50,000 each were taken, and deliveries were planned for 1992.
A total of just 275 cars were produced by the time production ended, each with a retail price of £470,000 in 1992.
A number of engineering requirements resulted in significant changes to the specification of the XJ220, most notably replacement of the Jaguar V12 engine to a turbocharged V6 engine. The changes to the specification and a collapse in the price of collectible cars brought about by the early 1990’s recession resulted in many buyers choosing not to conclude their purchase options.
This car was purchased new by the current owner in 1997 and has been part of a private collection. Finished in Spa Silver with grey leather interior and with ONLY 1050 kms on the clock, which is well documented. Serviced by Jaguar up until 2002, all the mileage on the car was undertaken by Jaguar service department, while being maintained.
The car has never been on raced or on a circuit driven in anger, never had paint work. With all the service books, handbooks, tools, spare keys and car cover, it is a part of British motoring history, never to be replaced.
