1963 AC COBRA “THE HAIRY CANARY”

In 1963, Richard ‘Dick’ J Neil Jr was a young man who wanted to go racing. In his early twenties, he already had an AC Cobra, a Mk1 260. He had graduated race training at the Connecticut wing of the Sports Car Club of America drivers’ school and intended to ship the Cobra from Los Angeles to Hawaii. However, the drive across America was dogged by breakdowns, and by the time he got to LA, he was ready to throw in the towel. Carroll Shelby, recognizing a young man’s enthusiasm (and the chance to make a quick buck) offered to take his current Cobra in part exchange for the latest, brand new, rack-and-pinion model. And so, on the 29th  August 1963, Carroll Shelby sold CSX 2151 to Dick, taking CSX 2005 as part payment. This made CSX 2151 the first car delivered for competition use with rack and pinion steering and a 289 cubic inch engine.

1963 SAAB 96 'BULLNOSE'

The car is in excellent condition and is one of the rarer and therefore sought after Bull-nose versions that were produced until 1965. This particular car has had 4 owners in its 55-year existence since it was first registered in Sweden on the 19th February 1963! It has the factory fitted iconic Saab logo attached to the grill. In the recent past, this car had a top to bottom and inside out detailed restoration. Since then it has only clocked up a further 10.999 km. The splendid bodywork is very straight with perfect fitting body panels. The paint finish is second to none. The underbody is sound and solid without any rust formation. The beautifully detailed interior is in pristine condition. Opening the bonnet reveals a well cared for the engine that runs perfectly. It has the stronger 40- horsepower 2-stroke 840cc engine in combination with a 4-speed manual transmission with a neutral position. The experience of driving a 2-stroke is really quite something else! This truly is a superbly restored Bull-nose!

1963 MORRIS MINI TRAVELLER
1963 Morris Mini Traveller in stunning Surf blue. This outstanding early traveller has the flat roof, long gear lever and as much charm as an old period cottage! Driving on the roads today it looks like a real piece of history as is admired by everyone who sees it. It was found in a dry barn in 2001 where it had been sat since 1981. 6 years later it was totally restored and being driven again when the sun was shining. The quality of restoration was clearly high as 10 years on it still looks immaculate and drives wonderfully. During the restoration, the only upgrade was to the front brakes which are now twin leading shoe which stop the mini well. It has been loved and maintained and enjoyed making regular trips from Kent down to Goodwood by its last owner. It has only had 4 owners in the past 55 years, covering 31500 miles. I have a thick history file to support all of the work done plus a mini magazine feature which has been enlarged to A3 for shows. Included with the car are the original steel wheels with up caps and wheel nuts, some spare number plates, the original steering wheel and a pair of matching bucket seats. The pictures say it all and the condition of the body is as good as it looks. The quality of the paintwork is to a show standard and the entire underside in body coloured and immaculate. The front seats are showing some age which I prefer to new seats as this mini is all about charm and history. Free delivery to your door in my curtain sided van within 200 miles of Tiverton. Please see the finance link above to see ways of dividing the cost of your new Morris Mini Traveller.
