Offered up for sale we have perhaps one of the most iconic cars of the eighties, finished in the legendary John Player Special livery this Lotus Esprit S3 Turbo is a true show stopper. The S3 Turbo Esprit was the posterchild of the yuppie brigade! Sitting in and driving this car takes you back to a time of big hair, big sunglasses and shoulder pads, big spoilers and in this case, big turbos! The vehicle has serious pace for a car of its age, once the big turbo spools up the boost pins you in your bucket seat. It is almost obligatory to have the period Blaupunkt stereo permanently tuned into Duran Duran! The vehicle spent a number of years in dry storage before undergoing a full two-year restoration, the hard work and attention to detail is obvious and the car is as good underneath as it is on top. The car features some personalized cosmetic enhancements such as a full body de-seam and roof rail delete, which really accentuate Guigaro’s design and lines. This Esprit S3 is already a classic within its own right, covering only 56,000 miles from new its not only rare but highly sought after. The cars origins are further backed up by a genuine Lotus certificate of provenance accompanied by a supporting letter. With only 4 owners since 1984 and an MOT until August next year this is a perfect useable classic that’s very capable of turning heads wherever you go. The unique 80’s styling has cemented its place in history and the price on these vehicles is only on the way up with good examples like our car appreciating every year. This is a rare opportunity to own a truly awesome classic Lotus. The gold coloured BBS wheels have been fully refurbished and shod with brand new rubber. Various rubber trims have been renewed and an in-depth mechanical run through undertaken. She is now ready to grace any collection, indulge the boy hood fantasy or just hit the open road and boost towards the horizon in pure 80’s style.

1960 JAGUAR XK150 3.8S DHC
By John May

RACING GREEN WITH BISCUIT HIDE INTERIOR

STRAIGHT-SIX 3781cc 265 BHP DOHC ENGINE WITH THREE SU CARBURETORS, JAGUAR OVERDRIVE GEARBOX WITH 2.7 RATIO, POWER STEERING, WIRE WHEELS, BUCKET SEATS IN LEATHER.
An opportunity to purchase a very special Jaguar XK150 3.8 S which has been made even more desirable with fast-road upgrades and enhancements by renowned Jaguar marque specialists John May/XK Developments of Tewkesbury, and Trafford Competition Engines of Malvern.
Announced in its home market in May 1957, the XK150 bore a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140 but the XK150 was radically revised. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped quite as deeply at the doors. The widened bonnet opened down to the wings, and on the open two-seater, the windscreen frame was moved back 4 inches, (102 mm) to make the bonnet longer. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in (305 mm) disc brakes appeared for the first time. A 3.8 litre 150S could top 135 mph (217 km/h) and go from 0–60 mph in around 7.0 seconds.
This XK150 S was re-commissioned in 2009, and there is a full photographic record of both the mechanical and body restoration. There is also an impressive history file, which includes, invoices for works, invoices for parts, the green log book, subsequent V5s, historic RFL discs and MOT certificates. It’s valuable original registration number ‘8895 WW’ will also be included in the sale.
This Jaguar XK 150 3.8 S is available to view at our London showrooms.
