1976 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWN COUPE - Classic Car Warehouse Blackburn Lancs

TODAYS FEATURED DEALER

Classic Car Warehouse
Blackburn Lancs,

Telephone: 01254 290279

1976 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWN COUPE
A stunning vehicle which has been the elderly owner's pride and joy since he personally imported the car from Ferndale, California in 2014. In the US the 87 year old owner was only the second keeper having acquired the vehicle when it was 12 months old with 12,700 miles and kept it for 37 years, taking the mileage up to 67,856. The Uk owner, a retired engineer and long term American car fanatic, is possibly the most meticulous person we have met and has systematically worked his way through the car making sure it drives exactly as it did when new and that every component works exactly as it left the factory, even to the extent of removing the original Cartier clock and having it shipped to the USA to be refurbished. The expenditure in the last 4 years comfortably exceeds the value of the car with every invoice retained, this was a labour of love and we have never seen anyone more upset to let a car go. The vehicle was parted with due to advancing years and the fact that storage was expensive and a little too far away to access the car regularly. We have promised to find a conscientious custodian who will enjoy and maintain the car accordingly.
With the car we have an A4 binder containing invoices detailing the work carried out which is far too extensive to list here, the highlights being new steering box and linkages, pitman arm, drop link and steering column connector, power steering pump, hydro boost brake servo, new exhaust, new brake hoses, drums, shoes and pads, new springs, new radiator. The gentleman was very keen to get the air conditioning working correctly and has therefore renewed the compressor, receiver, dryer and expansion valve together with the temperature sensors and regulator. The air con now works perfectly and can very probably give you frost bite ! Additional documentation includes the original factory build sheet, original start up procedure, original sales brochure and sales invoice from 1977, copy of USA title sheet ( V5 ), old MOT's, shipping documents etc etc. Interested parties are welcome to come and sit down with a cup of tea and work their way through all the paperwork at their leisure.
Everything on this car works exactly as it should, we have honestly never seen a car which has been more meticulously sorted by it's owner. The vehicle drives like new, which is no surprise considering the work carried out and is absolutely fabulous to be behind the wheel, gliding along in silence and comfort with the 460 cubic inch ( 7.5 litre ) engine delivering an effortless turn of pace which belies the cars bulk - and this is a BIG car, 19 feet 5 inches long and almost 2.5 tons !
Finished in stunning bronze gold diamond fire which was a special colour for 1976 Continentals only and upholstered in plush tan broadcloth which is in exceptional order and could easily pass for 12 months old, there is not a mark or stain to be found and negligible signs of wear, the car really is in superb condition throughout.
Specification of the period to include climate control air conditioning, electric seats, power windows - including electric quarter lights, central locking, cruise control, original radio and 8 track player working perfectly, auxiliary fuel tank ( extra 6 gallons ), forged aluminium wheels which are unmarked and fitted with new whitewall tyres all round. The car features the optional low ratio rear axle ( 3.0:1 ) giving effortless motorway cruising, this car will sit at 70mph all day long.
Cars which are so meticulously cared for are very few and far between and we will be very sad to see it go.
Supplied with both original sets of keys plus two blank Lincoln keys, full compliment of original owners manuals, wiring diagram, associated spare parts and approximately 50 eight track stereo cartridges etc.
The car will be inspected and prepared by an independent specialist and supplied with a new MOT with no advisory notices.
All our cars are hand picked, low mileage, low ownership examples with full service history. We only buy the best.
Part exchange considered. Nationwide delivery available. Deposits accepted over the telephone.
We are a family business established over 30 years, Rolls Royce and Bentley specialists. Up to 50 cars stocked, all indoors, viewing by appointment.

1962 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1300 - Absolute Classic Cars Silvertrees Farm Westmoor Lane Kettlethorpe Lincoln LN1 2JW

TODAYS FEATURED DEALER

Absolute Classic Cars
Silvertrees Farm Westmoor Lane Kettlethorpe Lincoln

Telephone: 01522 869802  Mobile: 07943 573877
web: http://www.absolute-classic-cars.co.uk

1962 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1300
Needing no real introduction, the Volkswagen Beetle, the 'Peoples car' has remained in production for almost 80 years and retains a charm and character that has endeared it to the hearts of over 21 million drivers! With its air-cooled engine in the rear, straight forward mechanics, oodles of interior space, style in abundance the Beetle is seen for many is the perfect classic car and whether its an early oval window, split screen or a latter 'Jeans' or 'Marathon' limited edition there are cars around to suit enthusiasts young and old alike.
Delivered to its first keeper on the 15th Aug 1972 this simply staggering Volkswagen Beetle 1300 shows a genuine 15980 miles from new and comes with the following specification

  • 1300 engine with 44bhp.
  • 4 speed manual gearbox.
  • Sumatra Green exterior (code: L61B).
  • Alabaster leatherette interior (code: 52).
  • Blaupunkt radio.
Walking around the car, gazing at the interior, listening to the engine, the driving experience this car just speaks - originality! The Sumatra Green bodywork has a wonderful lustre, the panel gaps remain entirely original, the sound of the door shutting is completely Germanic, engineered to perfection and precise and showing the odd touched-in stone chip helps to confirm that we feel the car has never received any paintwork in its life. The exterior chrome-work remains in first class condition, window / door rubbers are all 'like new' and the glass is free from any hazing or scratches. Everything is just right, the Octane sticker inside the fuel filler, the original Volkswagen rear mud flaps, this Beetle would happily grace any collection.

Opening the door to the interior and you can't help but be 'wowed' by how fantastic it is. The Alabaster seats / door cards have zero wear and all the knobs, switches, sun-visors etc look like they've never been touched. Completely charming, light and airy this little 'Bug' is what some would regard as 'factory fresh' !
Mechanically the Beetle is a marvel too. Without so much a hint of throttle, the car starts instantly from cold and settles to an offbeat tick-over as any flat-4 would. The gearbox is crisp and direct, brakes work perfectly, she's just a great driving car and the only dilemma we find ourselves in is whether we should or shouldn't jump in the car and take her on a 100 mile trip or a weekend away!
Owned by the previous keeper for some 22yrs we're advised that until 1996 the car was still fitted with its original crossply tires and with the exception of normal service items the car is exactly as she left the factory.....even now she still has her original exhaust! With some 30 previous MOTs dating back to 1976 (and indicates there have been a few years where she's remained dormant), 18 previous Tax Discs, her original owners manual and 2 keys this amazing classic has averaged less than 350mile/yr over the last 46 years! Surely one of the most original, low mileage examples available this '72 Volkswagen Beetle is now ready to be cherished by her new owner and will undoubtedly be admired by all who see her.
