1976 ROVER P6 3500 VIP
Comprehensive restoration in 2002, Rare VIP model, 78,000 miles, MOT

A unique opportunity to acquire one of the very rare 77 VIP models made by Rover in 1976 as P6 production came to an end. At that time Rover had 77 main dealerships throughout the UK and one car was allocated to each dealership. These cars were not for sale to the public, they were intended for the manager of each branch. Of the 77 VIP’s produced only seven are known to have survived including this car. Our car was subject to a comprehensive, professional restoration in 2002 at a cost of over £40,000. The work was carried out by James Watt Automotive based in Staffordshire and took over two years to complete. Invoices and correspondence are on file along with photos of the restoration which included a complete strip and rebuild, bare metal paint job, complete new leather interior and Wilton carpets, alcantara headlining, full engine rebuild to fast road spec & converted to run on unleaded fuel, new brakes, transmission and drivetrain rebuilt, stainless steel exhaust, all suspension and steering rebuilt and powder coated, all brightwork re-chromed, new wiring loom amongst much much more to result in a simply outstanding car. The underside of the car is perfect, they left no stone unturned during this restoration and no expense was spared. The car has seen little use in recent years but has just had a thorough inspection and received a new starter motor. She now starts on the button and runs very well indeed. Offered with MOT until June 2019, original books, owners manual etc are all present along with photos of the car in its original colour which was brown. This must be the best example available!

1976 FERRARI 308 GTB VETRORESINA -,Will Stone Historic Cars Ltd Marlborough Wiltshire UK

TODAYS FEATURED DEALER

Will Stone Historic Cars Ltd
Marlborough Wiltshire UK

1976 FERRARI 308 GTB VETRORESINAChassis 19237

Unveiled at the 1975 Paris Auto Salon, the all-new 308GTB heralded a change of direction at Ferrari opening a whole new market for the esteemed manufacturer. Rightly regarded as iconic and era-defining this compact and clean Pininfarina design was to stand the test of time and you don’t need to squint to see its DNA in the hugely coveted 288 GTO! A notable aspect of the early 308GTB was that, although still built by Scaglietti, the car's bodywork was made entirely of fibreglass, allowing for a very light weight of just over 2,300 lbs. These early fibreglass cars also featured dry-sump lubrication derived from Ferrari's racing experience. Just 712 of these first series, lightweight 308GTB's were produced until June of 1977.

The 3 Litre DOHC V8 motor introduced as a replacement for the V6-powered 246 Dino has powered a model-range that still runs to this day, the current Ferrari 488 being the latest iteration. With the power-plant placed transversely above the rear axle, these cars have proven to be very agile handlers being so well balanced.

Chassis 19237 was completed in May 1976 and was supplied to the first owner via the dealership in Palermo, Sicily. In January 1979, 19237 was registered in the name of Giuseppa Ippolito who retained ownership until 1989 when it passed with approximately 22,000 kms to the renowned collection of Ferrari enthusiast Giorgio Schon. The cherished collection was based in Milan and all the cars were meticulously looked after and serviced regularly. Schon used the 308 very sparingly adding around 2000 kms in 24 years!!

In October 2012, Ferrari’s Classiche department awarded the red book certification to 19237 and to this day it is in superb original condition. Sold by ourselves to the current owner in 2014 it is a pleasure to have back one of the most iconic yet undervalued Ferraris.

1976 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWN COUPE - Classic Car Warehouse Blackburn Lancs

TODAYS FEATURED DEALER

Classic Car Warehouse
Blackburn Lancs,

Telephone: 01254 290279

1976 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWN COUPE
A stunning vehicle which has been the elderly owner's pride and joy since he personally imported the car from Ferndale, California in 2014. In the US the 87 year old owner was only the second keeper having acquired the vehicle when it was 12 months old with 12,700 miles and kept it for 37 years, taking the mileage up to 67,856. The Uk owner, a retired engineer and long term American car fanatic, is possibly the most meticulous person we have met and has systematically worked his way through the car making sure it drives exactly as it did when new and that every component works exactly as it left the factory, even to the extent of removing the original Cartier clock and having it shipped to the USA to be refurbished. The expenditure in the last 4 years comfortably exceeds the value of the car with every invoice retained, this was a labour of love and we have never seen anyone more upset to let a car go. The vehicle was parted with due to advancing years and the fact that storage was expensive and a little too far away to access the car regularly. We have promised to find a conscientious custodian who will enjoy and maintain the car accordingly.
With the car we have an A4 binder containing invoices detailing the work carried out which is far too extensive to list here, the highlights being new steering box and linkages, pitman arm, drop link and steering column connector, power steering pump, hydro boost brake servo, new exhaust, new brake hoses, drums, shoes and pads, new springs, new radiator. The gentleman was very keen to get the air conditioning working correctly and has therefore renewed the compressor, receiver, dryer and expansion valve together with the temperature sensors and regulator. The air con now works perfectly and can very probably give you frost bite ! Additional documentation includes the original factory build sheet, original start up procedure, original sales brochure and sales invoice from 1977, copy of USA title sheet ( V5 ), old MOT's, shipping documents etc etc. Interested parties are welcome to come and sit down with a cup of tea and work their way through all the paperwork at their leisure.
Everything on this car works exactly as it should, we have honestly never seen a car which has been more meticulously sorted by it's owner. The vehicle drives like new, which is no surprise considering the work carried out and is absolutely fabulous to be behind the wheel, gliding along in silence and comfort with the 460 cubic inch ( 7.5 litre ) engine delivering an effortless turn of pace which belies the cars bulk - and this is a BIG car, 19 feet 5 inches long and almost 2.5 tons !
Finished in stunning bronze gold diamond fire which was a special colour for 1976 Continentals only and upholstered in plush tan broadcloth which is in exceptional order and could easily pass for 12 months old, there is not a mark or stain to be found and negligible signs of wear, the car really is in superb condition throughout.
Specification of the period to include climate control air conditioning, electric seats, power windows - including electric quarter lights, central locking, cruise control, original radio and 8 track player working perfectly, auxiliary fuel tank ( extra 6 gallons ), forged aluminium wheels which are unmarked and fitted with new whitewall tyres all round. The car features the optional low ratio rear axle ( 3.0:1 ) giving effortless motorway cruising, this car will sit at 70mph all day long.
Cars which are so meticulously cared for are very few and far between and we will be very sad to see it go.
Supplied with both original sets of keys plus two blank Lincoln keys, full compliment of original owners manuals, wiring diagram, associated spare parts and approximately 50 eight track stereo cartridges etc.
The car will be inspected and prepared by an independent specialist and supplied with a new MOT with no advisory notices.
All our cars are hand picked, low mileage, low ownership examples with full service history. We only buy the best.
Part exchange considered. Nationwide delivery available. Deposits accepted over the telephone.
We are a family business established over 30 years, Rolls Royce and Bentley specialists. Up to 50 cars stocked, all indoors, viewing by appointment.

1976 FERRARI 512BB Right Hand Drive - Bell Classics Hill View Markyate AL3 8QE

1976 FERRARI 512BB
Right Hand Drive

Launched at the 1976 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari 512 BB was the second in the ‘Boxer’ series and replaced the Ferrari 365 GT4/BB, with only 101 RHD 512 BB being produced. Although the Ferrari 512 BB shared similar styling with its predecessor, the big difference was the engine: the flat-12 being increased from 4.4 to 4.9 litres and the compression ratio increased. Fitted with four, triple-choke Weber 40 IF 3C carburettors, the engine modifications produced 360 bhp, more torque and improved driveability. The Ferrari 512 BB continued in production until 1981, 929 cars being produced before it was replaced by the fuel-injected Ferrari 512 BBi.

This car was the very first right-hand drive Ferrari 512 BB produced and was imported into the UK by Maranello Concessionaires in October 1976. Originally presented in Azzurro Metallizzato, a metallic light blue, with a beige Connolly leather interior, the car has been refinished in Rosso Corsa, a colour much more in keeping with both its looks and its parentage.

Having exhibited the new car at the London Motor Show in October 1976, Maranello Concessionaires immediately sold it to Maranello Sales for use as a demonstrator; the car being registered OPC 86R on 2 November 1976. Ferrari’s latest ‘supercar’ naturally created considerable press interest, the car being road tested by several magazines and appeared on the front cover of the 9 April 1977 issue of Autocar.

As press interest died down, Maranello Sales sold the car to Robert Cooper, then of Coopers Publicity Services, in September 1977, taking a BMW 633 CoupĂ© in part exchange. It’s possible that Mr Cooper had the car resprayed as the invoice from Maranello Sales confirms a verbal quote for £1,045 for doing so.

The car was subsequently owned by John Woodfield, the owner of Emblem Sports Cars, a very successful Ferrari dealer in Blandford Forum, Dorset, John using the car for many years before selling it. Now registered TFX 550R, mileage is noted to be 14,180 miles. Mr Woodfield, an enthusiast of 512s and an admirer of Koenig Specials modifications, fitted wider wheels with the same specifications as a Lamborghini Countach, as well as a Koenig Specials rear clam shell with wider flared arches.

In October 1990, the car passed into the ownership of an Austrian enthusiast with a private collection of Ferraris, the car being stored in the collection for the next 26 years.
Having purchased the car and returned it to the UK we carried out a thorough inspection and recommissioned it, carrying out a full service, an engine-out cam belt service and fitting new tyres. As could be expected, having spent more than half its life in a collection the car is in exceptional condition both inside and out.
