1976 ROVER P6 3500 VIP
Comprehensive restoration in 2002, Rare VIP model, 78,000 miles, MOT
A unique opportunity to acquire one of the very rare 77 VIP models made by Rover in 1976 as P6 production came to an end. At that time Rover had 77 main dealerships throughout the UK and one car was allocated to each dealership. These cars were not for sale to the public, they were intended for the manager of each branch. Of the 77 VIP’s produced only seven are known to have survived including this car. Our car was subject to a comprehensive, professional restoration in 2002 at a cost of over £40,000. The work was carried out by James Watt Automotive based in Staffordshire and took over two years to complete. Invoices and correspondence are on file along with photos of the restoration which included a complete strip and rebuild, bare metal paint job, complete new leather interior and Wilton carpets, alcantara headlining, full engine rebuild to fast road spec & converted to run on unleaded fuel, new brakes, transmission and drivetrain rebuilt, stainless steel exhaust, all suspension and steering rebuilt and powder coated, all brightwork re-chromed, new wiring loom amongst much much more to result in a simply outstanding car. The underside of the car is perfect, they left no stone unturned during this restoration and no expense was spared. The car has seen little use in recent years but has just had a thorough inspection and received a new starter motor. She now starts on the button and runs very well indeed. Offered with MOT until June 2019, original books, owners manual etc are all present along with photos of the car in its original colour which was brown. This must be the best example available!
