1955 COMMER EXPRESS DELIVERY VAN
This very rare van is finished in green with red trim and has had 5 keepers and has covered only 31000 miles from new, we have been led to believe. It is a historic vehicle so is exempt from both MoT and road Tax. It has formed part of a large private museum/car collection for many years in Redruth, Cornwall. It is in remarkable original condition apart from a repaint which took place some years ago. This is a very charming and useful van for Company advertising, historic car collection, museum or just for fun. Only a few of this type of van remain in the world and the valuable registration number SPX 740 is sold with the van and is transferable. The history folder includes: current V5, DVLA paperwork, various images and catalogues of the new car range at the time, original Owners handbook, lubrication chart, wiring diagram, images of this type of van when new, technical data sheet, dashboard layout leaflet, maintenance chart, various write-ups and original workshop manual. The features include wing mirrors, drivers door mirror, heater, cigarette lighter, period black, and silver number plates, wood panelling to rear, chrome hubcaps with chrome rim embellishers, period white steering wheel, ashtray, side chrome strip, and 2 opening rear doors. Out of all the Commer group of vans, the Express was the most popular with a payload of 9cwt and using the 1390cc engine and 4-speed column gears from the Minx Saloon. So this beautiful van offers good performance and economy and is a real rarity for showing. We do not think you will see another one like this at any of the car shows.
