1973 MG MIDGET 1380
Heritage Bodyshell
Although the Midget name existed before WW2 as series M, D,J and T MG’s, it is now mostly associated with the British Motor Company products of 1961- 1979. The early cars were slightly upmarket versions of the ubiquitous Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite, originally with the 948cc A series engine. The Midget progressed through a 1098cc unit, as favoured by Morris 1,000s and A40’s, on to a 1275cc and eventually to a 1491cc unit, also found in the Triumph Spitfire. The provenance of this engine is worthy of mention as it started life in the humble Standard 10.
Here we offer a very special Midget, very nicely presented in British Racing Green with black trim and alloy wheels, so cosmetically first class. Add to this a 1380cc fast road engine with Webber carb, rebuilt gearbox, competit.ion half shafts and modified suspension and you have a very special car indeed. The performance and handling has been transformed and a large grin is guaranteed
