1960 MORGAN PLUS 4 TR
Chassis number 4379 is a right hand drive and finished in British Racing Green with black trim originally supplied to the USA and is one of the 19 “Babydoll” replicas supplied to Lew Spencer’s dealership in Los Angeles.
Spencer was a highly successful race driver in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. All his racing Morgans cars were nicknamed “Babydoll” after a well known film of the period. His success created a significant demand for new Morgan Plus 4’s to the same specification which included aluminium body and wings, a first for production Morgans and predating the Lawrence tuned Plus-4 Supersports.
Our example was restored in the USA some years ago and remains in very good cosmetic order but sadly at that time the original Moss gearbox, torque tube, prop shaft and axle were replaced by non-standard components believed to be Triumph TR4 sourced. In its current format the car would not be eligible for historic completion events, however the required items are available by separate negotiation.
This makes for a very interesting project at just a £20,000 staring price or just enjoy it for what it is. We would be happy to advise and assist whichever route you choose.
