1965 AUSTIN SPRITE SEBRING EVOCATION
The Austin Sebring Sprite was introduced to the public at the London Racing Car Show in January 1961. Only six cars were produced, two of which travelled to the United States to be raced at Sebring in the hands of Stirling Moss and his sister Pat, Britain’s most successful female rally driver. The Sprite was continually developed over the next few years culminating in the most iconic and successful of these, the John Sprinzels designed cars.
The Austin Sebring Sprite Evocation offered here at Autostorico is a 1965 registered Sebring, finished in Jaguar Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with Bordeaux Red leather interior. This exceptional car was professionally built in 2011 from a 1965 MG Midget by Severn Classics for a client who spared no expense on a nut and bolt rebuild. The works began by shot blasting the car back to bare metal including chassis. All serviceable panels were used with new B posts and floor fitted. An FIA approved roll cage was fitted prior to the John Sprinzel endorsed “Archers Garage” Sebring body conversion. Attention then turned to the mechanical components with the 1275cc BMC engine being fully rebuilt to original factory specification including unleaded conversion. The gearbox and rear differential have been fully rebuilt by Universal Transmissions. Other significant work included; Full suspension rebuild including new bushes and bearings, Complete braking system overhaul, New cloth covered wiring loom, Full interior re-trim including period seats, carpets and dashboard top. The project was finished off with the addition of powder-coated wire wheels, side screens, Moto-Lita steering wheel and race harness. This remarkable vehicle, with its sporty feel, will give the new owner many hours of fun both on the road and track.
Supplied with a current MOT certificate with no advisories which is valid until November 2018 and current V5 registration document.
