1981 MG B LE ROADSTER
HISTORY FILE – Introduced in 1979 to celebrate 50 years of MG production at Abingdon, the Limited Edition (LE) models were the last built there before the factory's closure. A total of 1,000 cars were produced: 480 Roadsters and 520 GT models. Our chassis number: GVADJ1AG522763 was supplied by P.J. Evans (Dudley) British Leyland cars in March 1981 to Allsop Brothers of Smalley, Derbyshire. With an eye to the future, the car was immediately put into storage and never used. The car was then sold in 1981 and immediately stored again before going to the third custodian-collector in 2014 to continue its sheltered life in storage. Never used on the public road, SHA 982W is a relatively well known car within the MG scene with known provenance from new and surely a great long-term investment opportunity. We doubt there is another out there as good as this example?

EXTERIOR – Finished in MG’s unique Bronze metallic and synonymous with the final 480 ever produced Roadsters, the gold MGB Union Flag decals authenticate the cars heritage. The paint is in remarkable condition and has clearly been stored without seeing the light of day for a very long time. The high quality gold MG emblem indoor car cover has obviously played a roll. Tragically, the vinyl roof does have a small tear behind the passenger side which is a real shame and will be repaired rather than replace the roof. Both full and half tonneau covers are perfect and have clearly never been used. The distinctive chin spoiler is in perfect condition. The car is unrepeatable!

INTERIOR – As you would expect from such a low mileage car, the interior is literally ‘like new’! Upholstered in period orange ‘Deckchair’ it’s obviously not to everyone’s taste but, what we have here is a very unique car still in pristine original condition. Therefore, should it be changed? The crackle finish dash is literally as it left the factory - in time warp condition. Factory prepared for radio with speakers and antenna fitted.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The 1798cc engine number 39221 has travelled just 250 miles! As good as it gets and a wonderful opportunity for any serious MG collector. The oil is super clean and will of course be serviced and checked before delivery depending on the new owners plans. Incredibly, the (still new) Passport to Service book is still with the car along with the original Driver’s Handbook. The engine bay is exactly as it left the factory and still has the original Unipart stickers on the air filter covers. Just amazing!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The 14” unique Stag-type alloy wheels are still covered in the original Uniroyal tyres but, sadly, a couple of the wheels are now showing signs of pitting, but is nothing tragic.

1954 JAGUAR XK120 DHC

Here we have a truly outstanding XK120 drop head coupe presented in superb condition and a matching numbers UK right hand drive car.
The history file with the car includes Heritage Certificate and an excellent researched history of previous owners and events relating to the car and those previous custodians. These include the following
  • Built by Jaguar as the 240th of 262 right hand drive cars in black with red interior and red hood. Despatched to the Jaguar distributor in Edinburgh. The first of only 2 DHC that went to Scotland
  • First owner Francis S Robertson of Kelso bought the car whilst on leave from his job in Pakistan! The car was registered on the 4th of May 1954
  • In 1960 George Bloy purchased the car from a Tom Dickson and the car became light metallic blue with burgundy wheels
  • 1969 and the history file shows a white car and Raymond Lann of Aberdeen as the owner and some grass track racing as part of its history. How times have changed. I am pretty sure you wouldn’t see an XK on a grass track today!
  • 2011 and the DVLA V5 shows the car passing from Mr Lann having laid dormant in his barn for some 40years to a Davis who bought the car for our client the most recent owner
  • A 2 year restoration back to its original specification as it left the factory in 1954 sees the car in outstanding condition today
A true matching numbers car the subject of a sensitive and faithful restoration to original specification by a meticulous and caring owner. The only ‘improvement’ is the use of Guy Broad’s five speed gearbox to give high speed cruising. The original gearbox is supplied with the car. Since completion the car has won prizes in local concours d’elegance and presents in a condition commensurate with those awards. A detailed and comprehensive history comes with the car. What a great opportunity for a new owner
Sold through the Fender Broad and Guy Broad business affords the new owner the chance to enjoy the vehicle as is or specify further modification to continue the outstanding history of this car. Options might include disc brakes, wire wheels, bucket seats for taller drivers etc etc. Critically this stunning 120 presents a perfect ‘canvas’ for a new owner to define ‘their’ perfect XK safe in the knowledge that structurally this car is excellent and the perfect basis for further upgrading or enjoying as is.
A rare car to start with but even rarer and highly desirable in this specification and with this detailed matching numbers history.  You are unlikely to see an opportunity like this in the near future
