Matured for over 80 years. One of the finest cars of the century.
      Presented in Concours quality condition
Fully restored to original standard by Thornley Kelham
      Single owner since 1950
Period race history and proof of heritage
Extensive history and decades of hardcover records
Winner of ‘Best of Show’ at The London City Concours at the HAC London in 2017
To appreciate this motor car, we must first understand the BMW 328’s well-deserved place in the history books. The 328 made its debut at the Nürburgring on 14th June 1936. Piloted by Ernst Henne, the prototype achieved a remarkable and unexpected victory at the annual Eifelrennen event, going on to become one of the most legendary sports cars of the century. The engineers, led by Chief Engineer Fritz Fiedler, defied convention by using a powerful 2-litre six-cylinder engine combined with a lightweight and stiff chassis rather than the supercharged engines favoured by many of their competitors. Their approach paid off.
Taking stylistic inspiration from the 319/1 Sport and 329, the BMW 328 pushed the limits of engineering with several innovations such as the new cylinder head designed by Rudolf Schleicher, producing an impressive 80bhp. BMW’s vision made the 328 one of the first truly modern sports cars; perhaps the only pre-war model to drive like a post-war car. Even after the war, the 328 proved a formidable racing car on the track. From late-1934 onwards, Frazer Nash (AFN Ltd) was granted permission from BMW to import the 328 into the UK where they were sold as Frazer Nash BMWs with the iconic Frazer Nash badge.
This immaculate 1937 Frazer Nash BMW 328 (registration number GML 185) is affectionately known as “Zoe”. The car has been cherished and thoroughly enjoyed, being used daily for many years and for long-distance driving holidays to Scotland and Europe. Purchased by its current owner in 1950 from Gilly Tyrer, the car was taken across the English Channel to stretch its legs the following summer touring around France, where it viewed The 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1950 French Grand Prix at Reims-Gueux. On its return to England, the car competed in several prestigious hill climb events, earning a desirable period race history.
GML 185 was entered into Lands End, Exeter, Derbyshire Classic Reliability Trials and Speed Hill Climbs, and was regularly used between Boscombe Down and Falmouth for 48 Hour Passes. Since 1985, the car has been stored in a dehumidified building and has since been entirely dismantled and built from the ground up by Thornley Kelham, the well-known and respected specialists in classic and vintage restoration, at their state-of-the-art 18,000 sq ft premises outside of Cirencester. Through skilled craftsmanship and great attention to detail, the car was sympathetically restored and kept as original as possible in every respect.
Complete with a fabulous history, GML 185 comes with extensive documents dating back to the 1950’s including a comprehensive detailing of the recent restoration process presented as a printed book, handwritten records of correspondence and work carried out, and historic photographs from racing events and competitions.
Restored to original condition and cared for by a single owner since 1950, this is a unique opportunity to purchase a rare and highly sought-after example of the legendary Frazer Nash BMW 328. The depth of history and the provenance of the car is remarkable. GML 185 is presented with decades of detailed records including a hardcover book containing handwritten notes of correspondence and the dates of all work ever carried out. This is complemented by a published book presented to the owner by Thornley Kelham detailing the restoration process from beginning to end.
These additions complete with its period race history and the car’s Concours quality condition make GML 185 a truly one-off example. Produced in limited numbers and widely regarded as one of the first true sports cars, these early Frazer Nash BMW 328s come to market infrequently and it is believed that fewer than 200 exist today.
In 2017, GML 185 was announced as the winner of ‘Best of Show’ at The London City Concours at the HAC in London on 8-9 June 2017 (sponsored by Octane Magazine).

1968 FORD CORTINA MkII 1300 DELUXE

Restored to a very high standard, this striking looking Cortina is stunning and drives superbly well. The original service booklet is present showing a Ford service history up to September 1979 showing 64747 km.
The odometer currently reads 23200 km. Cars of this generation did not have a hundred thousand digits, so although I cannot warrant the current mileage it is probable that the 123200 km or 77000 miles are authentic.
The car was registered at DVLA in the UK on the 15th June 2016 and as the car was imported from within the EU there are no outstanding VAT or import duties to be paid.
She was given a full service on the 7th November 2016 with drive belts changed as a precaution.

The interior has been re-trimmed in its original Ravenna red (code B965) with matching door cards and black instrument cowl and looks very striking with a leather 3 spoke steering wheel.
New matching red carpets set the interior off and are a beautiful combination with the Purbeck grey exterior.
I have had fitted front inertia reel seat belts which are genuine period parts but give extra safety and security.

The 1298cc engine is the revised crossflow design with the new cylinder head making it more efficient and smoother. This was launched for the 1968 model year and produces 50 BHP and ample torque for this relatively light car weighing in at a modest 857 kg.
She has ample performance to keep up with modern traffic.
The gearbox is a 4 speed fully synchronised unit.

1938 JAGUAR SS100

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 1994 and 1996 – 2nd in Class Award
Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate delivered new via Appleyard of Leeds
Restored by respected SS100 specialist Jack Rabell in the mid-'90s
1st place 1994 Spring Grand CCCA, Senior Winner

The archetypal pre-war English sports car can be seen in a Jaguar SS100 with its long bonnet line, down-swept wings, raked fuel tank rear end and cutaway doors. The model found instant success; Wisdom won the gruelling 1936 Alpine Trial in his 2.5-liter car and the model would be successful on many other international rallies.

Just under 200 of the 2.5-liter model were made. Chassis # 49053 was built in August 1938 and supplied by the main agents Appleyard of Leeds in March 1939 according to the Jaguar Heritage Trust trace certificate. The early history of this car is unknown to us at present, but by the 1990s it appeared in an auction in Las Vegas and was purchased from there by Joe Glickman of La Jolla, California and adding to his impressive Jaguar collection. He entrusted highly respected restorer Jack Rabell to completely restore the car starting from the frame up and to show condition, which was an eighteen-month project and which is documented with a cd and some supporting photographs. Rabell's own SS100 had won many show awards and the restoration of this car was to the same exacting standards as his own car.

More than 20 years after its Pebble Beach Concours debut, this SS100 2.5 litre-engine still shows wonderfully. Resplendent in bright red with a tan leather interior and matching soft top, the quality of the restoration by Jack Rabell shines as the car makes a strong statement. Great chrome, paint and leather stand up today and now it is time for someone to drive and enjoy this Jaguar as intended. The engine fires right up 'on the button' as they say and it pulls strongly in all gears and shifts smoothly. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows that it left the factory painted grey but when restored the owner chose a striking red over tan leather colour combination that looks extremely sporty. Eligible for many great events this should be the perfect pre-war sports car to tour with. One of only 65 that were built between 1938-40 from which around only 50 are known to have survived, so commendably rare.
