JENSEN INTERCEPTOR Mk I

Launched at the ’66 Earls Court Motorshow, the Carrozeria Touring Designed Interceptor was the latest car from Jensen.
The early cars were built by Vignale in Italy before production was moved to the West Bromwich factory.
In mid-1969 the front suspension was redesigned replacing the king-pin with independent, coil sprung, ball jointed wishbones and telescopic dampers. The dual piston Dunlop callipers were replaced with Girling triple piston units which endlessly improved braking. Power steering was standard fitment.

Here we have a late model MKI which benefited from the ongoing updates over the three years of MKI production from 1966-1969.

wood’ and complemented by a gold coach line, this MKI certainly looks every inch the Italian designed ‘60’s GT car. The interior has been recently re-trimmed in light tan leather and the car retains its original centre console veneer which has a nice patina. This is a particularly nice MKI which has been well maintained and drives beautifully. The engine is torquey and responsive and the transmission has benefitted from a very recent fully rebuilt and reconditioned axle.

Interceptor MKI’s are rare at best, let alone ones of this standard.
