1991 BMW ALPINA B12 850l
1 of only 5 Produced

Peter Vardy Heritage are delighted to offer this unique, rare and outstanding Alpina B12 5.0 V12 Coupe, one of only 5 right-hand drive vehicles ever produced.

The Alpina derivative of the E31 BMW 8-Series was first announced in June 1990. The 5.0-litre cars were produced in two distinct batches, the first from launch until mid-1992 being based on the 850i, with the second based on the 850Ci. Only 35 cars were ever produced worldwide over this 4 year period and only 5 were right-hand drive examples.

ALPINA enhancements took the V12 power unit from the standard 300BHP to 345BHP by using lighter pistons, bigger valves, high lift camshafts and a recalibrated Bosch Motronic ECU for each cylinder bank. Power was transmitted to the rear wheels via 18” ALPINA classic alloys of 10.5-inch width at the rear, via a torque converter overdrive automatic, enhanced with ALPINA specific software. Apart from obvious improvements in driveability, the 0-62MPH time dropped to 6.9seconds (from 8.0seconds) and the top speed increased to a de-limited 174MPH.

This is a truly magnificent example presented in pristine condition with impeccable provenance and featured in Classic Cars magazine in April 2016. Registered and supplied on 30th August 1991 by Sytner BMW Nottingham with a covering letter of authenticity and ALPINA production plaque, this example is presented in Mauritius Blue with Light Silver Grey leather sports seats.

Standard specification includes:

•Anti-lock braking system (ABS)

•Electronic accelerator control system with integrated speed control
•Front spoiler

•Green tinted glass
•Laminated rear screen
•A high-pressure headlight cleaning system
•Heated outside mirrors combined with a heated drivers door lock and washer nozzles

Additional factory options on this example include the optional gold contour lines-decoset, ASC+ traction control and electronic damper control, graduated tinted screens, electric rear blind, Auto-dimming interior mirror, BMW sports seats, front seat heating and auto air re-circulation.

As one would expect this outstanding vehicle comes with its own ALPINA folder documenting the full B12 build specification as well as every MOT and Service invoice. In addition, the Wallet pack contains the Owners Manual, Radio Manual, Service Book, Dealer Directory and all Security code data. A copy of the Classic Cars magazine 6-page article from April 2016, featuring the vehicle is also provided.

With the B12 combining the aural satisfaction of something brittle and Italian with the reassurance of German build quality and given the fact that it has been meticulously maintained regardless of cost, this represents a unique opportunity to acquire a rare and highly desirable example from the ALPINA portfolio.

An outstanding investment opportunity which can only increase significantly given desirability and rarity.
