After the war, Moto Guzzi re-commenced production with a range of updated pre-war designs, such as the 500cc touring GTV and sportier GTW.  These bikes were given upgrades to keep them current such as telescopic front forks and hydraulic rear suspension before being replaced in 1949 by the Astore.

The Astore had several features pioneered on the hugely successful 250cc Airone, principally an aluminium-alloy cylinder barrel and ‘head and enclosed valve gear, and remained in production until 1953. By then the ultimate expression of Guzzi’s classic, the vintage-style single had arrived: the legendary Falcone. Introduced in 1950, the Falcone took over the GTW’s mantle of Guzzi’s top sports roadster, its tuneable engine being closely related to that of the Dondolino racer. Offered in Sport, Turismo, and military/police specifications, the Falcone outlived all its fellows; the Turismo civilian version remaining in production until 1963 when it was replaced by the all-new Falcone Nuovo.

The bike we offer here comes from a European collection where it has had a recent mechanical check through. It presents very well and has a wonderful patinated feel and the wonderful deep colour that these bikes should have and so rarely do.

1958 Mercedes 220 SE Ponton Coupe

We are delighted to be able to offer this stunning LHD Mercedes 220 SE Ponton Coupe for sale

This first totally new designed post war Mercedes, which replaced the Type 170, was in production from 1953 to 1962. First as a 4 cylinder Sedan (W120 & 121) and later as a 6 cylinder sedan, cope and cabriolets (W105 & 180 & 128) Only 830 cars of the 220SE coupe were manufactured and only 65 with the sunroof.

This particular car was delivered to the dealership in Monchengladbach in November 1958 and the new owner collected the car from the dealership on the 13th of January 1959.

Unfortunately the history file is very thin and we can’t trace where the car went and where it spent most of its live but we know that it arrived 40 years later here in Ireland.

The current owner spend a considerable amount of money over the past few years to bring the car back to its present condition.

1958 ZUNDAPP JANUS 250

The Zündapp Janus was a microcar made by the German motorcycle manufacturer Zündapp between 1957 and 1958, and the only car ever built by the company. The car was developed by aircraft manufacturer Dornier, and then sold and further developed by Zündapp. With their engineering input, the car was considered as a quality bubble car, with the special design feature of having a front opening door for driver and passenger, and a rear opening door for access to the rear-facing rear seat. This "coming or going" design was named after the Roman god Janus who had two faces : one looking forwards and one looking backwards. The car was powered by a mid-mounted two-stroke monocylinder engine of 245 ccm developing 14 hp (10 kW), and enabling a top speed of 80 km/h. The Janus had a very comfortable suspension and four ventilated brake drums. The production started in June 1957, but unfortunately it failed to reach decent production figures due the high price. In total, Zündapp only produced 6902 examples of their Janus between 1957 and 1958, and then abandoned the project and concentrated again on the production of motorcycles.

Due to this low production volume, a Zündapp Janus in now one of the rarest microcars you may find. The few remaining examples all reside in private collections, and almost never come available on the public market. This example was delivered new in Germany in 1958, and had 4 german owners until 1973 when it came to Belgium. It was then restored and put in a museum. Being an older restoration, the Janus is still in remarkably good condition and drives well. It still has the original German logbook from January 1959, which mentions all previous owners. The Zündapp Janus also featured in the Pixar movie "CARS 2" as Professor Zündapp.

This little microcar is a great addition to any world class collection, as it is one of the strangest car designs ever made. It is a unique opportunity to obtain a proper Zündapp Janus, which almost never comes available on the public market.

1958 JAGUAR XK 150 S 3.8 ROADSTER

Originally delivered new to California in 1958 before being re-imported to the UK in 2004. Received a full body-off restoration by noted specialists, including an upgraded Chris Forbes CFS Motors 3.8l Engine, coach-trim & hood completed by Suffoc & Turley and full re-spray concluded by Leaping Cats. The car was converted to right-hand drive and now benefits from disc brakes, power steering, electronic ignition, Kenlow cooling fan, Guy Broad 5 speed gear box, SS exhaust system, 16" chrome wire wheels, triple SU carbs and the very desirable louvered bonnet. Finished in a Jaguar colour "Antigua Blue" with burgundy interior. Having covered less than 2000m since the restoration, this example is accompanied by a good history file which includes a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, invoices and a photographic record of restoration. An opportunity to acquire a highly sought after and incredibly usable Jaguar XK 150S in excellent condition.
