1965 FORD CORTINA MkII

This modified Ford Cortina MKI was first registered on the 15th April 1965. We first owned the Ford in early 2016, collecting it in Carmarthenshire where the car has spent five years. The Cortina had come to us in part exchange for a Morris Minor Traveller, the very car he previously owned and as a result the Ford Cortina had to make way for the new purchase. Between 2011 and 2016 the MKI Cortina covered in the region of 3000 miles and on arrival with us in 2016 quickly sold to the last owner who by total co-incidence was also in Carmarthenshire. Over the past two years the Cortina has covered a further 3000 miles and has required very little work. The Ford has been regularly serviced, had a new handbrake cable, new distributor cap, fuel pump, carburettor jets cleaned and has proven totally reliable and has been an enjoyable car to own. 3000 miles and two years later the Ford has made way for an open car so we delivered an MGB Roadster down to South Wales, bringing the Cortina back to Yorkshire.

Between 2011 and 2012 a substantial amount of expenditure went into this Cortina. First of all the engine and gearbox were removed and the body prepared for a full re-spray. Metal work included new rear wheel arch sections and new rear wheel wells and once prepared the underside was painted and undersealed. The engine was then prepared and re-painted and the engine, gearbox and suspension re-fitted. The shell was fully re-sprayed in metallic paint and on re-fitting of the glass, new windscreen rubbers, glass seals; window channels and door shut trims were fitted. The Ford was also treated to new windscreen chromes, plastic headlamp bowls, Halogen headlights and aerial roof mount.  BTH 899C was re-wired, the radiator re-conditioned and the car also fitted with electronic ignition, new brake pipes, servo and new discs and pads. Finally, all ignition items were replaced and the Ford ready for regular use.  Invoices for the above work total in the region of £6,500 and we know further work to the interior has been carried out as both front and rear seats and door cards have been replaced prior to 2016.
BTH 899C looks sharp with a stunning paint finish, lovely straight panels and bright chrome work. The engine bay was re-painted when fully stripped down and has therefore been re-done to a very high standard. The car is structurally solid, presents very well and the upholstery is in fine order with recently replaced seats and door cards. Minilight style wheels certainly suit the car and with the metallic paint and wheels, the car has an uprated look to it. The Ford has a 1598cc engine that runs superbly and feels quick. The engine is strong, pulls well, the four speed gearbox changes nicely and brakes; suspension and steering all feel very good. Our MKI Cortina is a sound, usable car that has some nice features and would work well for regular use or further detailing to get ready for shows and rallies.

The Lowest Mileage Fixed Head Coupe in Existence?

The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend; manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. It combined sensational looks, high performance and competitive pricing that instantly captured the imagination of the British public at the time and it has remained a truly iconic piece of British motoring history since. It was voted “the most beautiful car of all time” by the Daily Telegraph; Sports Car International Magazine placed the E Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the decade. On the cars public release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”
The Jaguar 3.8 Litre ‘E’ Type was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961. The domestic market launch came four months later in July 1961. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted 3.8 Litre six-cylinder Jaguar XK engine from the XK150S. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the twin hood latches moved to inside the car. The 3.8 Litre engine was increased to 4.2 Litres in October 1964.
All E-Types featured independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front ends, and four wheel disc brakes, in-board at the rear, all were power-assisted. Jaguar was one of the first vehicle manufacturers to equip cars with disc brakes as standard from the XK150 in 1958. The first series motorcars can be recognized by glass-covered headlights (up to 1967), small “mouth” opening at the front, signal lights and tail-lights above bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear.
Our utterly unique Jaguar ‘E’ Type was supplied new via the factory authorized Jaguar Cars distributor for Christchurch, New Zealand Archibald’s Garage to Mr D. G Owen on the 11th of February 1966. We understand that the Jaguar resided in New Zealand until it was acquired by Hexagon Classics.
The Jaguar’s historical chassis file includes:
* Original Certificate of Registration (1966)
* Original Handbook Wallet
* Original Jaguar Operating, Maintenance & Service Handbook inc. Factory Amendments
* Original Maintenance Voucher Book
* Original Factory Warranty Certificate
* Original Jaguar Maintenance Chart
* Original Factory Tuning & Preparation Book
* Original Dealer Book & JDC Drivers Club Prospectus
* Original Factory Supplied Tool Roll (Complete)
* Original Factory Supplied Jack
The current total mileage of our outstanding Jaguar 4.2 Litre ‘E’ Type Fixed Head Coupe stands at, 10,513 m and surely represents a unique opportunity to purchase and own one of the most iconic, lowest mileage motorcars of the 20th century; a “Jaguar E Type Fixed Head Coupe”

1965 FERRARI 330 SHOOTING BRAKE - DK Engineering,

FROM THE SHOWROOM
OF

I apologise if we have already posted this selection before but we think it deserves another look.......So we give you

Ferrari 330 Shooting Brake. Coachbuilt by Viganle

1965 FERRARI 330 SHOOTING BRAKE
COACHWORK by VIGNALE
A True Show Stopper

The Ferrari 330 was the successor of the 250, being first introduced by Ferrari in 1963. The first 330 was a 250 GTE with a larger capacity engine, and then followed the 330 GTC,GTS and 2+2. Powered by a single-cam V-12 displacing 3,967cc and producing 300 bhp, power reached the rigid rear axle via a five-speed manual transmission. Front suspension was independent and brakes were discs all around.
This car, chassis 7963, was originally built by Ferrari in 1965 and delivered to the Belgian dealer, Garage Francorchamps, in December 1965. It was sold to Luigi Chinetti Jr, son of the famous East Coast Ferrari importer and racer. He returned the car to Italy and the body was removed and replaced by the renowned Ferrari Coachbuilders, "Vignale", of Turin. Luigi commissioned the eponymous owner of Vignale coachworks, Fredo Vignale, to fit the 330 with a shooting brake bodywork. Sadly this project was to be his last project before his death in 1969.
In an era where coach building was most prominent, this 330GT is the only example of a collaboration between Chinetti and Vignale that spawned a truly unique coach built classic. The project only retained the windscreen and the doors from the original aesthetic of the car, offering a unique styling approach to the exterior. It was one of just three 330 GTs that were rebodied for the Chinettis, but is unique being the only model to have this shooting brake body style. The car was shown by Vignale at the 50th Annual Turin Motor Show in 1968. After that it went to the United States with the Chinettis were it remained until 1996. It was in French ownership until it was sold again by Bonhams in 2006; latterly it made its way into the current owners care, a well-known car collector and world famous rock star.
Being the last car re-bodied by Vignale the car plays a very important part in their history. Due to its rarity and show stopping looks the car is highly eligible for the world's most prestigious events including Salon Prive, Villa d'Este and the Cartier Style et Luxe at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The car is in exceptional condition with fantastic service history. It is resplendent in its original colour Verde Metalizzatto , though the original Gold roof sections were repainted at Jay Kay's request. The original Campagnolo alloy wheels are unmarked. The unique Glass Hatch-back section allows access to the cavernous lather lined boot. The Tan interior, Nardi steering wheel and dash are faultless and include badging on the passenger side from Vignale saying 'Carrozzeria Vignale Examplare Unique', another feature unique to this car.
The car and its ownership history have been well documented in many Ferrari publications and the media including an article in the December 2001 of Classic & Sportscar Magzine.
This example signifies the era of bespoke car design and the collaboration between a commissioning owner and an established coachbuilder. Based one of the last standard Ferrari 330GT's, this example signifies the wealth of exclusivity brought about by the bespoke coach building era.
