1948 ALLARD M TYPE COUPE - PENDINE CLASSICS

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM

1948 ALLARD M TYPE COUPE
Sydney Allard, a hugely talented engineer and a true motorsports enthusiast, built many Ford based specials under his own name before the war, most of which were powered by the phenomenally successful flathead V8. Allard’s contribution to the war effort was running a repair shop for military vehicles and by 1945 he had amassed a large quantity of Ford spares, a factor that ensured he seamlessly progressing from military repair work to the manufacture of civilian cars.
Various models were released – the most famous being the J2 & J2X for their competition success – but it was the M Type Roadster that proved to be one of the most popular with almost 500 built. The pronounced wings, the curved grill and the long bonnet line were distinctly Allard. Built between 1947 and 1950, despite their larger than life appearance, period reviews noted a good power to weight ratio that offered surprising performance. Naturally, the 3.6 Litre Ford V8 Flat Head was the standard engine for the U.K. market.
It is generally agreed that only 3 M Types were built as a closed Coupe, of which only two survive, this example being one of them. It was sold new to the UK, staying close to the Allard workshops in Clapham for many years. The first owner eventually sold the car to his uncle, who lived in Canada, and so its life .overseas began. By 2001 it was in a very dilapidated state, and an Allard enthusiast managed to save it. He completed a thorough restoration over a two year period.
Since then, it has appeared in numerous Concours events in the USA, winning the Best in Class award in the 2012 Glemore Gathering, a second in class at the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance in 2013 and a First in Class at the Milwaukee Master Piece Concours the same year. In 2014, the Allard returned to Britain after an invite from Goodwood to exhibit at the Earls Court Motor Show tribute during the Revival.
A beautifully restored, exceptionally rare example of an unusual British marque

1937 ALVIS SPEED 25 TOURER - BRIAN CLASSIC & Co

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM  http://www.brianclassiccars.com/templates/bcc_amped/images/header_bg.png
1937 Alvis Speed 25 Tourer

1937 ALVIS SPEED 25 TOURER
Sold new to Lieut. Cmmdr. E.P.H. Pinckney serving on board HMS Berwick, who was sadly killed during WWII. Cecil Andrew then owned the car until 1948 when he emigrated to Bermuda. In the history file there is a photograph of his son with the car circa 1945.
The car went to the USA in the mid 1960's when Paul Wilde was trying to find a suitable car to tempt Raymond Suerth to part with a disassembled Mercedes 500K. The plan obviously worked as Mr. Suerth kept the Alvis for the next 25 years! During this period a restoration was started but the the restoration company went out of business and he kept the car in pieces for several years before trading it with Jerry Bradley in 1990. Mr. Bradley worked steadily on the car until his untimely death and the last owner, an Alvis enthusiast and active CCCA member, acquired it from his widow in 1992, completing the restoration over the next two years.
Shown regularly over the ensuing years the car remains in excellent condition throughout. Only 39 Speed 25's were bodied by Cross & Ellis in this elegant style with the very low hood line, folding screen and the convenience of 4 doors.

1989 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER GX - PERCIVAL MOTOR COMPANY

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM
  ToyotaLandcruiserG499VVXshowroom
1989 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER GX
In metallic light bronze with cloth upholstery.
This special and very rare Landcruiser is in superb original condition throughout. It has a fantastic, unmolested interior that does not smell of dog or rotten sheep and an immmaculate exterior with only a couple of minor blemishes. The original body decals are still in place and the bumpers, normally rusty on Landcruisers, are straight and correct. Even the number plates are the original supplying dealer items and their rear window sticker is still in place.
The interior has been protected with Toyota supplied mats and a Toyota plastic load bay protector has been fitted since new. The seats do not sag and the switch gear and controls are all unworn.
The underside has been protected with Waxoyl for many years and is rust free, unheard of on an Eighties Landcruiser!
The Landcruiser has only covered 103,000 miles since and was treated to a bottom-up engine rebuild by a racing engine specialist 12,000 miles ago and is quiet, smooth and pulls well. A Pace Inter-cooler is fitted and the old girl really does motor along well if you push her.
The specification includes a four litre, turbocharged, six cylinder diesel engine with a Pace Inter-cooler, a five speed manual gearbox, power steering, electric windows all round and central locking. The factory alloy wheels have been fully refurbished recently.
Incredibly rare in this condition, this Landcruiser must be of only a handful left in this beautiful condition

FERRARI 360 CHALLENGE STRADALE - DK ENGINEERING

"FERRARI FRIDAY"
FROM
Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale. LHD - 7th Car Built 8,000 Miles
 FERRARI 360 CHALLENGE STRADALE
When the 360 Modena was nearly four years old Ferrari wanted to homologate some improvements for their GTC racer and thus the 360 Challenge Stradale was introduced. The Challenge Stradale weighs in at just 20kg more than the Challenge and a staggering 110 Kg less than a standard Modena resulting in a dramatic performance increase. The Stradale features a host of aero and mechanical refinements that combine to make it 3.5 seconds faster around Fiorano than an ordinary Modena.

Modifications include, Carbon Ceramic brakes as standard, a 50% lighter multi axial carbon floor plan, a 25 BHP increase in power, aerodynamic tweaks allowing for up to 50% more vertical loading (including a different bumper, boot lid and sills as well as venturi ducts at the rear), carbon racing seats with 4 point harnesses, a stripped out interior with alcantara dash and carbon door cards as standard and an F1 gearbox with shift times of just 150 milliseconds to name but a few. A total of 1288 Challenge Stradales were produced.

This example is the 7th Challenge Stradale built and as such an early the car was retained Ferrari Spa in Maranello to be used a show and demonstration example, one such example of this work is the famous Vikki  Butler Henderson 5th Gear test (see video below) which features this example. Following this it is believed that the car was specially upgraded with larger "Enzo" brakes and leather seats for the Monaco Royal Family road use. Following this interesting chapter in the cars history the car returned to Italy was used on the road and serviced by the Rome maind dealer "SamoCar".

Imported into the UK the car has had just one owner in the UK, the car washad a major service with ourselves in 2013 and has been used sparingly since. The stunning specification of this unique car includes factory roll bar, fire extinguisher, tan leather bucket seats, alcantara steering wheel and dash, Giallo Rev Counter, Nero Brake calipers and of course Rosso Corsa paintwork, this very low mileage (8,000 miles)  example is presented in stunning condition throughout and will be supplied with a fresh service. With its unique history and low mileage this stunning Challenge Stradale represents a real opportunity to purchase one of the finest examples of what is already an appreciating classic, lightweight "homologation special" Ferrari.

1934 BENTLEY 3.5 Litre Coachwork by OXBORROW & FULLER - Coys

1934 Bentley 3 1/2 litre Coachwork by Oxborrow & Fuller made by
1934 BENTLEY 3.5 Litre
Coachwork by OXBORROW & FULLER

Registration Number: BLL 665
Chassis Number: B142-CR

The first product of the 1931 Rolls-Royce take-over of Bentley, the 3 1/2 Litre was introduced in 1933 and was in essence designed to be a much sporting version of the successful Rolls-Royce 20/25. As such, it used the shorter chassis of the stillborn 'smaller' Rolls-Royce, code-named Peregrine, allied to a more powerful version of the 20/25's Six with new crossflow cylinder head and camshaft, twin SU carburettors, twin fuel pumps and single coil ignition. Mated to a four-speed transmission with synchromesh and a hypoid bevel rear axle, the latter a first on a Rolls-Royce produced car, the 105bhp 3,699cc engine endowed the 3 1/2 Litre with market-topping performance over ninety miles per hour.. Notably, this first of the Derby Bentleys was also the first to be marketed as 'The Silent Sports Car', such was its considerable almost Rolls-standard refinement.
The 3 ½ Litre soon gained a reputation for pace and fine handling combined with the elegance of handbuilt coachwork supplied by various leading coachbuilders in saloon, drophead coupé and touring guises; as such it found favour with many owner drivers. In the depths of the Depression, then, mainly on grounds of cost, few used the 3 ½ Litre for competition although notable results include Eddie Hall's hat trick of second places in the Ulster TT. Its separate chassis, complete with centralised lubrication system, employed leaf spring suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers front and rear, while the brakes were power-assisted by Rolls-Royce's well-proven gearbox-driven mechanical servo. Detail modifications were introduced during the 3 ½ Litre's three year production life, including adjustable shock absorbers in 1935. Production ended the following year after 1,177 examples had been manufactured with a variety of different style coachwork.
B142 –CR was delivered to Vanden Plas where it was tested and guaranteed by the Works and delivered to its first owner, C. B. Hignett, in Piccadilly, London, who first registered the car on the 11th of December 1934.
The coachwork chosen by Mr. Hignett, was the Oxborrow & Fuller all weather Continental Tourer design ( body number 3316) as confirmed by Vanden Plas build records.
This most desirable body style offered the discerning owner, both elegant and clean lines. With the hood lowered, a unique feature of this touring design was the introduction of glass rather than cloth side windows. In this design, the glass windows were retractable into the coachwork, offering all the sportiness of a Tourer, but the practicality of solid glass windows.
This unique vehicle which has been owned, Father and son, since 1949, as confirmed by its old buff-style log book, is believed to have been one of only thirteen cars to carry this extremely sporting touring coachwork. In the past 2 years, this rare Bentley has undergone extensive re-commissioning with the majority of works undertaken by Marque specialists, West Hoathly Garage. To list just some of the major works which are fully itemised in their invoicing; engine removal, inspection and overhaul of carburettors, clutch replacement, overhauling and reconditioning of starter motor and dynamo, extensive bodywork, stripped down and replacement of any decayed woodworks, replacement of exhaust and re-chroming of major items and overhauling of all necessary items before reassembly, following a bare metal repaint. In addition, all works were then reassembled before extensive road test, ensuring the successful re-commissioning of this splendid and rare motorcar. These works were undertaken at a cost of £53,000, in addition there are evidenced in the cars file, further work for trimming and detailing including a new hood and hood bag, totalling a further sum of approximately £17,000, bringing this car to its current superb condition. With an extensive photographic record, showing the car's progress through its restoration right through to completion.
With its unique long term ownership, and a speedometer reading, which is believed to be original, of only 75,000 miles, we are pleased to offer this most handsome open Touring Bentley which would make an excellent candidate for the many rallies and Bentley driver club events, to be enjoyed by its new owners.
