1957 FORD 100 E ANGLIA

Originally sold by Harry Nash Motors Ltd, Hammersmith this Ford Anglia was first registered on the 23rd Feb 1957, meaning that she is now celebrating her 60th year on the road. With only 3 previous keepers we understand the car has been within the same local, family ownership for a considerable period of time, never taken out in the rain and has only become available as the elderly local gentleman has recently retired from driving.

Finished in a period shade of green the Anglia has a wonderful patina to her. An inspection of the car confirms that she is in remarkably original condition, subject to an older repaint the bodywork now shows some minor blemishes, but she still presents remarkably well, great panel gaps, structurally very original, not dents, nice clear scratch-free glass and lovely bright chrome work all round, remarkable for a car of this age.

The Deluxe interior features the lovely brushed aluminum twin dial dash, added to models built after '56 and its great to see that this car is fitted with the 'optional' heater! At some point in the past the seats have been recovered and these remain nice and comfortable with plenty of interior space for front / rear passengers.

As for her mechanical condition, the Anglia is a real gem....with the key in the ignition and a pull of the 'starter' button the 1172cc side-valve 4 cylinder engine fires instantly without any fuss or smoke and within a matter of seconds she settles into an almost silent tick over. The 3 speed manual transmission selects smoothly and the little Anglia is soon upto a comfortable driving speed, the engine surprisingly having plenty of low down torque when pulling away from tight bends in top gear. With a top speed of 69mph our Anglia will happily run along at 50mph, so she's perfect for quieter A/B class roads and on a recent 30mile drive this wonderful Anglia was a real pleasure to drive, no undue rattles or wind noise and brought many smiles and waves from the people we passed by.

Ready to be enjoyed or should a buyer wish take her to the next level, a 60th Birthday refresh maybe, which we can also undertake this fantastic '57 Ford Anglia makes a great starter classic and with a good sized boot it would be fabulous to see her being enjoyed on family picnics or weekends away. She comes with her current V5C, original buff log-book (so often lost), she has her original Anglia 'Instruction Book', 2 sets of keys and mixture of MOT records from '75 (her mileage was 47687) through to her most recent MOT (exp Jun '17) and now shows only 50600 miles, which could quite easily be original.

1972 HILLMAN AVENGER TIGER

As an accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms, this stunning condition Tiger Mk2 dates from 1972 and comes in the classic Sundance Yellow and matt black colour scheme.

Between 2009 and 2011 the car was treated to a total nut-and-bolt restoration which is fully documented by a file full of bills and photographs.

In sound condition at the outset, the car remains original in terms of its chassis and bodywork with the original inner wings still date stamped and intact. Mechanically it has been somewhat upgraded but using parts that were available in period.

The engine was built around a genuine ‘new old stock’ factory 1600 block to Group N specification with Skip Brown polished con rods, +30 flat top pistons and an MSM fast road cam. Other upgrades include a factory competition 4036 head, Aldon distributor, Skip Brown competition manifolds, Ashley exhaust and rebuilt Weber 70/71 carbs. A brand new quick shift 5-speed competition gearbox with a Skip Brown alloy bellhousing has also been fitted. Other features include uprated brakes and suspension, competition steering rack and limited slip differential. Inside the car benefits from a Springalex steering wheel, Butlers map light and high back sports seats.

Since the restoration was completed the car has only covered some 2,400 miles (the odometer being re-set to zero) while the Skip Brown engine has only done some 600 miles.

The car comes with a large history file from new including various original sales brochures, handbooks and servicing literature. In outstanding condition throughout, this exceptionally rare car (it is belived only about 40 survive) is far more exclusive than a comparable Ford Escort RS or Mexico.

1957 AUSTIN A35 DELUXE SALOON

  • Supplied with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate
  • Beautiful chrome details
  • Upgraded sensibly

Austin A35’s always had good performance for their class and even led to some saloon car racing successes during the mid 1950’s. The A35 featured a larger front grille, a larger rear window and flashing turn signal indicators to replace the semaphore indicators used on the A30. Production of the A35 Saloon lasted until 1959 when the model was replaced by the Farina styled Austin A40.
Mechanically the car was fairly standard, with independent coil springs at the front and a beam axle and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear, it also has worm type steering.

Our Austin is a really well sorted and delightful A35 Deluxe with chrome surround opening rear windows. It has been sensibly upgraded with a 1,275cc engine, twin SU carburettors and uprated brakes. The car benefits from Twin spotlights, chrome over riders, a radio with roof mounted ariel, reversing light and a tow bar.
Inside, the A35 shines with beautiful Cherry Red seats with matching Red carpets, all are in fabulous condition, the colour contrasts the Black exterior and dashboard stunningly. Presented in superb order throughout and bringing a smile wherever it goes, this is a really outstanding 1950’s icon that is ready to be enjoyed.

Supplied with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and numerous MOT’s dating back until 1981.
Now available for viewing at the DD Classics Dealership in London, please call to book an appointment.
