1971 FORD ESCORT MEXICO

Restored about two years ago and fitted with 140bhp Vulcan Engineering X/Flow

Ford Escort Mk1 Mexico, 1971.   Restored about two years ago and fitted with a 140bhp Vulcan Engineering  X/Flow with twin Webers with dyno sheet.  Good history file with various parts supplied by Burton Power and old MOT certificates and tax discs.  Great all round performance.  The Ford Escort was launched at the 1968 Brussels Motor Show and aware that the Cortina was in the autumn of its competition career, Ford’s competition department had been developing a race/rally version throughout 1967. An early competition win was Hannu Mikkola’s victory on the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally, and to capitalise on which Ford created the limited edition, AVO-built Escort Mexico in time for the 1971 season with a strengthened shell, Rallye Sport suspension and brakes, and a 1600cc ‘Kent’ engine. Comes with a full MOT and service.

CUT 7/256 DJU COUPE & ROADSTER

Coupe & Roadster

Details

The history of all the CUT 7 cars are well documented. This is the second car Dick Protheroe raced in 1963 most notably at Goodwood Sussex Trophy (4th) and Silverstone Daily Express Trophy (3rd) before re-registering as 256 DJU and selling to Roger Mac.
After Roger Mac’s stunning season in the car he moved onto F2 and sold to David Cunningham and then to the East Hants Team of Paul Vestey and Rick Ward. They continued to race the car before an accident in 1965 resulted in Vestey buying a roadster body from the factory and transferring the running gear from the coupe.
Vestey soon moved onto Le Mans and sold the car to John Lewis who competed in mod sports with great success in 1967-69 before selling the car. Buying it back in 1979 he prepared it for FIA historic racing and with Jaguar Cars backing won the championship in 1983, 85 and 87 with Roger Mac driving the car again! Following Bobby Unser’s factory backed drive in 1990 the car has only been used in 93 Tour Auto (4th overall) and track days by John Lewis. In its current form over the last 35 years the car has been the subject of numerous magazine articles.
The coupe monocoque was sold to Dick Soan and then in 1968 to well-known Jaguar collector Penny Woodley who used it with considerable success as a hill climb car. In 2015 Penny, with incredible generosity, donated the body shell so it could be reunited with 256 DJU. The coupe is being restored to original Dick Protheroe spec and carries the registration of CUT 7A.
This is a unique opportunity to buy the full history of one of the legendary CUT 7 cars as the roadster and coupe are for sale together for the first time.

1995 FERRARI 355 GTS - FOSKERS

CLASSIC SHOWROOM
From Classic Chatter: www.classicchatter.co.uk
Classics are our Passion

TODAY'S FEATURED DEALER

1995 FERRARI 355 GTS

The Ferrari F355 is often regarded as the transition point into the modern era of Ferrari road cars, employing Formula One-derived engine technology and advanced aerodynamics.
Pininfarina's sleek F355 design for Ferrari won instant praise when it was revealed at the 1994 Geneva motor show - and its popularity has never waned.
The Ferrari 355’s name is derived from its 3.5-litre V8 engine and five valves per cylinder- as denoted by the ‘Cinquevalvole’ inscription on the rocker covers. The conrods are titanium alloy, the clutch is housed in magnesium alloy, and the Bilstein shock absorbers use electronic sensors to provide active damping. In 1994, the Ferrari 355 was a technological tour de force.
This particular car is a truly superb example of the Ferrari 355 GTS. It is presented in Giallo fly with Nero Hide, carbon sports seats in medium, with black carpets, Targa roof panel in body colour, 6 speed transmission, 18” Magnesium alloy wheels, air conditioning, Electro hydraulic suspension, electric door mirrors, electric windows, remote central locking, power steering, abs braking, and period stereo cassette player.
Having covered only 29,000 miles from new, this Ferrari 355 GTS is in superb condition. This example must be driven to be fully appreciated. It is one of the very best 355’s that we have had the pleasure to offer.
For more information about this Ferrari 355 GTS, or to arrange an appointment, please contact our sales team on 01474 874555 or 07921 430430.

1945 HEALEY WOODIE ESTATE - CLASSICMOBILIA

CLASSIC SHOWROOM
From Classic Chatter: www.classicchatter.co.uk

Today We Feature

Healey Woodie Estate

Healeys production records indicate that some 123 were sold purely as rolling chassis with a whole range of different bodies fitted. Most were English and included saloons, tourers and even station wagons or shooting breaks as the British like to call them. The London coachbuilder Hobbs produced shooting breaks that featured aheavy use of exterior timberwork not unlike the Woodies being manufactured in the US at the time. There were anumber of European coachbuilders who also used the Healey chassis, such as the Swiss company Beuttler with anumber of highly fashionable open and closed bodies but once again were very expensive.

This 1948 Healey Woodie Estate was built by the very well-known Healey Elliott pre-war racer Hector Hobbs, as a result as liking the cars, decided to sell Healeys from his garage in Southampton. To get around purchase Tax of 30% he commissioned the building of 17 Woodie Estates on the Westland Elliott chassis. The woodwork was given to the coach builders Dibbins of Southampton and the panel work was taken from Westland’s the builders of the Elliott and Westland Roadster.

Today only two vehicles survive, 607 YUP (FOW 178) was discovered in a very poor state in Scotland. A full pains taking restoration started about three years ago and a lot of research carried out to make sure the car was correct in every way, with no expense spared.

Probably the fastest Woodie on the road today, which is set up so well, it drives like a dream.

1937 TALBOT 110 - GAVIN MCGUIRE CLASSICS

SHOWROOM CLASSICS
Brought to you by: www.classicchatter.co.uk

Today we feature
GAVIN McGUIRE CLASSICS

1937 TALBOT 110

George Roesch's 120 bhp 3.5 Litre 6 cylinder Talbot 110 Vanden Plas Sports Tourer is surely one of the most desireable English sporting cars of all time. It is very rapid, very stylish, a masterpiece of design and beautifully made. Any Talbot 110 is special but this one is even more so as it has travelled just over 150 miles since the completion of a total chassis up restoration. This was so comprehensive and the result so impressive that in 2008 the car won the prestigious Transport Trust Restoration Award which was presented to its owner-restorer personally by Prince Michael of Kent.
The car was first seen by its restorer in 2002, covered in carpets in a lean-to garage which it shared with chickens, mice and spiders. It took three years of contact and gentle persuasion before the previous owner agreed to sell it, whereupon it had to be moved without delay so the deal was agreed and the car taken to its new home in 24 hours! After careful examination and discussion with various experts the buyer concluded that the only possible course of action was to undertake a total nut and bolt restoration as anything else would be a waste of a rare opportunity.
A detailed photographic record of around over 200 images comes with the car showing every aspect of the work he carried out, from the day he collected the car through the total strip down and his subsequent painstaking rebuild - these photos tell you more about the level of work done than any long descriptive text could. To avoid just writing a series of superlatives about the car I will simply say that it now must be very much as it was when it first left the factory - so much so that it is still being run in! It is a car for the serious collector which really has to be seen and inspected to be appreciated.
Sadly, having invested a serious amount of personal commitment, time and copious quantities of money into the project the restorer unfortunately contracted rheumatoid arthritis and he found it almost impossible to enjoy driving the car. He therefore decided to let someone else take it on so it passed to an American connoisseur who particularly likes rare high quality cars which are in first class condition. He has now owned it for three and a half years during which time it has been kept in dry storage and occasionally been exercised to make sure it is all in good working order. He is now rationalising his collection so the Talbot is being offered with a view to it finding another home with an enthusiastic owner who will appreciate such a fine motor car.
If you don’t know Roesch Talbots but would like to own one of the finest British sports cars of the 1930s then 110 is a car which you should really consider as it is very rare, it looks are just gorgeous and it has performance to match.
