1937 TALBOT 110 - GAVIN McGUIRE FINE AUTOMOBILES

SHOWROOM STAR
FROM
GAVIN McGUIRE FINE AUTOMOBILES

1937 TALBOT 110

George Roesch's 120 bhp 3.5 Litre 6 cylinder Talbot 110 Vanden Plas Sports Tourer is surely one of the most desireable English sporting cars of all time. It is very rapid, very stylish, a masterpiece of design and beautifully made. Any Talbot 110 is special but this one is even more so as it has travelled just over 150 miles since the completion of a total chassis up restoration. This was so comprehensive and the result so impressive that in 2008 the car won the prestigious Transport Trust Restoration Award which was presented to its owner-restorer personally by Prince Michael of Kent.

The car was first seen by its restorer in 2002, covered in carpets in a lean-to garage which it shared with chickens, mice and spiders. It took three years of contact and gentle persuasion before the previous owner agreed to sell it, whereupon it had to be moved without delay so the deal was agreed and the car taken to its new home in 24 hours! After careful examination and discussion with various experts the buyer concluded that the only possible course of action was to undertake a total nut and bolt restoration as anything else would be a waste of a rare opportunity.

A detailed photographic record of around over 200 images comes with the car showing every aspect of the work he carried out, from the day he collected the car through the total strip down and his subsequent painstaking rebuild - these photos tell you more about the level of work done than any long descriptive text could. To avoid just writing a series of superlatives about the car I will simply say that it now must be very much as it was when it first left the factory - so much so that it is still being run in! It is a car for the serious collector which really has to be seen and inspected to be appreciated.

Sadly, having invested a serious amount of personal commitment, time and copious quantities of money into the project the restorer unfortunately contracted rheumatoid arthritis and he found it almost impossible to enjoy driving the car. He therefore decided to let someone else take it on so it passed to an American connoisseur who particularly likes rare high quality cars which are in first class condition. He has now owned it for three and a half years during which time it has been kept in dry storage and occasionally been exercised to make sure it is all in good working order. He is now rationalising his collection so the Talbot is being offered with a view to it finding another home with an enthusiastic owner who will appreciate such a fine motor car.

If you don’t know Roesch Talbots but would like to own one of the finest British sports cars of the 1930s then 110 is a car which you should really consider as it is very rare, it looks are just gorgeous and it has performance to match.

1987 FORD SIERRA RS500 COSWORTH - KGF CLASSIC CARS

SHOWROOM STAR
FROM

1987 FORD SIERRA RS500 COSWORTH

One of 52 Moonstone Blue Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth’s with just four owners.
MODEL HISTORY

The Sierra RS Cosworth project was defined in the spring of 1983 by the then recently appointed head of Ford Motorsport in Europe.  It was established that at the time, Ford was no longer competitive in this area.  After receiving full support from Ford Public Relations, the project was underway with the Sierra chosen as the basis for the project.  Ford Motorsport in Europe approached the automotive company Cosworth who answered positively, but put up two conditions:  The street version of the car had to produce no less than 204 HP, and Ford had to accept no less than 15,000 engines.  Few cars have ever been greeted with such enthusiasm as the original Sierra RS Cosworth, perhaps only the exclusive 500 cars that were developed to become an evolution edition, unbeatable on the track.  Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned with converting the 500 cars, which in 1987 were to be announced as the RS500.  Engineering differences aside, largely the cars were aesthetically similar to the standard Cosworth.  The main differences being the additional boot mounted spoiler, discrete badges and the revised front bumper to aid improved cooling.  This included the removal of the front fog lamps as standard, but with the dealerships offering reinstatement as an optional extra.

EQUIPMENT

Bodyside mouldings, integral front air dam, colour coded door mirrors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, colour coded lockable fuel filler cap, bonnet cooling vents, halogen headlamps, colour coded bumpers, single plane rear wing spoiler with trailing edge fence, lower tailgate mounted spoiler, tinted glass all round, tailgate wash/wipe, laminated windscreen, central locking, extended centre console, cigar lighter, quartz digital clock, fascia light dimmer, leather gearknob, leather three spoke sports steering wheel, 3-speed heater fan , cassette storage, electronic sound system (model ECU2) with power amplifier, electric aerial, Recaro Sports front seats, split folding rear seats, tilt and slide sunroof, tachometer with turbo boost gauge, trip recorder, anti-locking brake system with failure warning light, electric front windows.  Dealer options; Ford floor mats.

EXTERIOR

Presented in simply beautiful condition, this RS500 Cosworth has remained exactly as Ford intended with the all too common modification trend completely avoided.  Finished in optional Ford Moonstone Blue (code K6), the paintwork boasts a deep polished gloss shine and superb uniform finish.  All exterior trim, rubbers and glass remain free from damage, as have the all imperative RS500 badges and decals.  A tiny hairline crack to the rear nearside light cluster is visible and one of the front headlamps has been replaced.  The front lower splitter has remained true to shape and the original grilles in place of the fog lamps remain correct to the RS500 build specification.  A very clean underside displays original manufacturer stampings on various components.  The ultimate 1980’s performance touring car, very special.

INTERIOR

The interior of this very rare RS500 remains trimmed in the original Ford Roma Grey (code S2) upholstery featuring Recaro front seats and matching carpeted door trim.  The fabric seats coverings are in excellent condition with only minor distortion to the driver’s seat bolster and slightly loose material commensurate with the mileage.  The carpets are clean and have remained free from wear having been protected from new by genuine Ford carpet mats.  All dials and gauges operate perfectly including all electric warning lamps and the door open/bulb blown warning display.  The dashboard displays two small hairline cracks around the dash top speaker grille and the headlining to the rear has dropped slightly.  A clean boot area houses the original uncut parcel shelf with correct rubber hangers, impossible to source.  The perfectionist will note markings to the inner boot trim whereas the purist will delight at the factory boot stickers and original Dunlop D40 tyre on the spare wheel.  A very presentable and unspoilt RS500 interior remaining true to the manufacturers intentions.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The original RS Cosworth powerplant warrants little introduction.  Fitted with the standard 2.0 Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC) with the larger Garrett AiResearch T31/T04 turbocharger and intercooler, the motorsport pedigree of this car is unmistakable.  With an impressive output of 224HP allowing the car to accelerate smoothly through 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 153mph.  A stainless steel exhaust system is fitted.  The engine bay is incredible in its originality and condition with panel stampings displayed and factory stickers showing age deterioration, but present and correct.  The gear changes are positive and direct throughout the range, a real delight.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The factory fitted 15 X 7 inch RS Sierra Cosworth alloy wheels housed within the flared arches are in pristine unrestored condition, and are shod in matching Avon CR338 205/50 R15 tyres all round with excellent tread remaining.  Diagonally split hydraulic circuits, anti-lock braking assisted 28.3cm ventilated discs up front and 27.3cm discs at the rear bring the car to a sure and steady halt.

HISTORY FILE

Supplied by Ford RS Dealers OMC Ford of Macclesfield on 17th August 1987, build number 470 of 500 has covered just 67,055 documented miles from new with only four keepers.  All handbooks including the all-important RS500 Cosworth supplement remain in the history file along with previous MOT certificates.  An independent report commissioned by the previous owner by renowned valuation experts Julian Shoolheifer Limited was carried out on 28th October 2014.  KGF Classic Cars have taken the car to respected Mr Harvey Gibbs of Cosworth specialists, Supreme Car Services, for a full service and inspection including cambelt and tensioner and renewal of many standard components, as well as a MOT.  One key fits all locks and ignition and a Clifford alarm system is fitted.

This vehicle will appeal to the discerning collector wanting a well preserved unmolested example of a now very rare car.  KGF Classic Cars are proud to offer this truly special car to the market and the exceptional opportunity that it represents to the informed enthusiast who will appreciate such cars are rarely offered to the open market.

1970 ISO GRIFO 7.0Litre

A257_online.jpg

142 - 1970 ISO Grifo Seven Litre

1970 ISO GRIFO 7.0Litre

Estimate: €270,000 - €300,000

Registration Number: EU Registered
Chassis Number: 7L020316
Renzo Rivolta was a successful industrialist in the sector of Refrigeration just outside Milan in Italy. During the post-war period of the 1950's, he branched into motor-scooters and then microcars, manufacturing the Isetta Bubblecar which was very successfully licenced to other manufacturers; most notably BMW who went on to build over 130,000 examples. In 1962, Renzo Rivolta moved into the luxury performance motorcar segment revealing, at the Turin Motor Show, his sleek 2+2 'Rivolta IR300' competing directly with established marques such as Maserati and Ferrari. In 1963, Giotto Bizzarrini (previously of Ferrari) provided mechanical expertise for Iso to refine the drivetrain and platform for a new Berlinetta Coupé with the bodywork penned by Gioretto Guigaro at Bertone.
The new Iso prototype 'Grifo A3/L' was revealed at the Turin show in 1963 to overwhelming approval. First production Iso Grifos followed and all used reassembled and blueprinted Chevrolet Corvette 5.4 litre engines until a seven-litre option was introduced in 1968. With some detailing modifications, such as a subtle bonnet scoop, necessary to accommodate the taller engine and a black band across the rear roof pillar to denote the car as a seven-Litre, a total of 322 Series I Grifo's were built before the design received a facelift in 1972, after which time a further 78 (Series II) Grifo's were built. In total 90 Grifo's were specified in seven-Litre form with only four being built in righthand drive.
Whilst it was priced similarly to the Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari Daytona in its day and with performance statistics to match, it has only been in more recent years that the collectability of Iso's finest cars has been comparable to the cars that the Iso's were designed to compete with when new.
This lovely example has been with its current owner for several years. It was restored from 2002 to 2004, with the motor rebuilt by renowned engine builder Total Performance in Koblenz. The interior was re-trimmed at the same time in tan leather, and still presents very well.
Finished in green metallic with a lovely tan interior, this true GT car offers rocket ship performance with the usability and practicality that only a well-tuned American V8 can provide.

1988 LANCIA THEMA 8.32 FERRARI - COYS AUCTION

A257_online.jpg

114 - 1988 Lancia Thema 8.32 Ferrari

1988 LANCIA THEMA 8.32 FERRARI

Estimate: €12,000 - €17,000
Registration Number: Italian Registered
Chassis Number: ZLA83400000126332
Lancia's top-of-the-range Thema was built to bespoke order and powered by Ferrari's V8 32 valve, 3-litre engine. Here was a luxury, four-seater motor car with GT sports car performance. Top speed was 150mph with 0-60mph acceleration in 6.8 seconds. Options ordered with this car include electric sunroof, brown leather interior, air conditioning, electrically adjustable and heated front seats and adjustable rear seats.
A real 'Q car' if ever there was one, the newcomer came with a Ferrari 308, 32-valve V8 mounted transversely beneath the bonnet and, with 215bhp on tap, was capable of giving more exotic rivals a severe fright. Electronically controlled damping ensured correct suspension characteristics no matter what the driving conditions, while the luxuriously appointed interior went some way towards justifying the £43,200 price tag.
Just 2,370 8.32s, all left-hand drive, were built between 1988 and 1990, and the model can only become increasingly collectible.
The car we are offering today is a fine example with five-speed manual gearbox, equipped with alloy wheels and finished in Rosso Winner livery. The car is not restored with the interior in good condition. A very special opportunity to buy a rare Lancia equipped with the delectable Ferrari engine.

1931 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM II - FRANK DALE & STEPSONS

SHOWROOM STAR

Image result for FRANK DALE & STEPSONS LOGO

1931 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM II

1929 saw the arrival of the Rolls-Royce Phantom II which set new standards for others to follow. It was a vehicle specifically designed with the chauffer driven passenger in mind. At the time the only home produced rival to compare with the Phantom II was the Bentley 8 Litre, which was a faster vehicle but was thought to be far less chauffer friendly, with considerably heavier steering and a gearbox which was more difficult to operate. The vast majority of the 1,400 or so Phantom II chassis that were produced between 1929 and 1935 were fitted with four door saloon style coachwork, ideal for a chauffeur and his passengers. Chassis No 14GX was originally completed in September of 1931, finished with saloon coachwork by Freestone & Webb, as specified by the first owner Sir John Leigh. At some point in its early life, for reasons unknown, the coachwork was changed to a Sedanca de Ville body. Chassis No 14GX was acquired by the most recent owner in the 1960's, in a dilapidated state. And it remained that way until the mid 1990s when the restoration works began to bring the car back to its former glory. No stone was unturned during the body off restoration, which culminated in 2006 with the completion of the works. A large number of photographs are present in the history file, documenting the transformation over several years. The end product is in very good order throughout and drives just as one would want and expect. The interior is finished in grey leather with a winding glass division for added privacy. The mystery about the coachwork has become a little clearer in recent times, with the publication of an advert for another Phantom II, Chassis No 198GY, a Sedanca de Ville by Windovers. An advert appeared in 2013 marketing this car for sale in Europe and it would appear to be identical in almost every facet when compared to Chassis No 14GX. So although the coachwork on Chassis No 14GX cannot be identified beyond doubt, the fact that it is almost identical to 198GY would suggest that its coachwork is almost certainly by Windovers. This stylish Phantom II is beautifully finished following such extensive works in recent years and ready for the next chapter in its life.

1957 RENAULT 4CV - ROBIN LAWTON

SHOWROOM SATURDAY

1957 RENAULT 4CV

One of the most charismatic small French cars, the 4CV made its debut in1947. When launched, it was nicknamed ‘La motte de beurre’ (The lump ofbutter) due to the fact that the earliest batch were all painted in a sand yellow colour!
The 4CV – also known as the Renault 750, was to enjoy a long anddistinguished production run, being available up to 1961, despite its ultimate replacement, the Dauphine, having appeared some five years before this. Assembled in no less than seven other countries, the 4CV was notable for being the first French car to sell more than a million units, with atotal of 1,105,543 being produced.

Capable of over 40 mpg and having a maximum speed of 62 mph, the little 4CV has gained itself a cult following in recent years.

This delightful example is finished in the factory colour of Almondine and retains its original interior trim, which is in exceptional condition, in keeping with the 53,800 kms (Approximately 33,430 miles) which we are assured is correct. It has had just 2 owners and all fittings and furnishings remain in excellent condition.

Ideal transport for Goodwood Revival, this charming little car must be one of the most original survivors and is sure to cause much interest wherever it goes.
