CLASSIC OF THE DAY
FROM
1936 Austin Seven Opal 2 Seat Tourer
A lovely example of the rare Opal model, this car has come to market after 12 years of being carefully stored. The car was subject to a full engine rebuild in 2001 with supporting invoices and has done just 2,300 miles in fourteen years. There are believed to be less than 100 Opals left and perhaps as few as 60 or so cars in circulation, making this a rare car. The engine number is correct for the year which is a real positive as it is rare these days to find an Austin that still sports its original engine.
The body of the car is in very good order with a nice interior and seats that are in very good condition with no rips or tears. The chassis and underneath of the car are also in good condition. The hood is cloth and whilst aged appears to be in good order. We have gone through the mechanics of the car and everything works as it should and the engine pulls well, sounds great and is smoke free. The engine bay has also been nicely detailed.
The car was registered new in 1936 and still retains its original transferable registration number JU 9768. The number alone will carry a high value although we would never separate it from the car.
There is a substantial history file with the car including lots of invoices and MOTs dating back to the 1980s. Austin Sevens are well supported by numerous owners clubs making it easy to obtain spares and advice.
UK wide delivery is available and we are also happy to deliver to any mainland port for export.
