1931 MORRIS MINOR JARVIS BODIED DROP-HEAD COUPE
Very rare Jarvis Bodied Morris Minor Drop Head Coupe
A real rarity and a pre war car that is very pretty indeed. This car is based on a Morris Minor Tourer chassis which was given to the coachbuilders Jarvis of Wimbledon to build their own body onto in 1931 and what a fabulous job they did. This is probably as good as it gets in terms of lines and a well proportioned looking car. Originally the car would have been fitted with the 847cc overhead camshaft four cylinder engine which was also used in the MGs of that era. However, reliability issues and failures led to these engines being replaced and with this car the engine was replaced possibly sometime in the 50s with a Ford E93 sidevalve engine which proved to be a perfect fit for one of these cars giving more power than the original engine. The engine is fitted with an Aquaplane manifold sporting twin SU carbs. This car also benefits from a Morgan 4/4 all synchromesh gearbox along with hydraulic brakes which all makes for a fun driving experience. You certainly get plenty of looks wherever you go in this car.
The interior is a joy with a leather seat and a super dashboard. The low lines of the soft top and the side screens really set this car off. The car has only recently been fitted with a new set of Blockley tyres.
The history file contains miscellaneous invoices along with some photocopies of articles relating to the work of Jarvis Coachbuilders. Prior to the current owner we believe the car was owned for many years by a museum and this is therefore a rare opportunity to acquire something a little different and certainly a lot of fun.
Every year in the UK there are 150,000 cases of Sepsis, resulting in a staggering 44,000 deaths – more than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined.
The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) was established as a charity in 2012 with the objective of saving 12,500 lives every year. We are committed to changing the way the NHS deals with Sepsis, to increasing public awareness and supporting those affected by Sepsis. Every penny you donate is valuable in helping us achieve our goals, together we can help to mend Sepsis.
