Bentley 4 ¼ Worblaufen Continental 4-door Cabriolet 1938 RHD
Chassis: B 125 LE
Let me show you how a pre-2nd WW clash of cultures can result in a very unusual but very elegant Bentley.
This one-off 4 ¼ Bentley Cabriolet brings together, end of 30ies top British technology and top quality typical Teutonic coachwork by the Swiss coachbuilder Worblaufen (Fritz Ramseier).
The idea for this happy marriage came from Professor Dr. Hans Wildbolz from Bern who took delivery in June 1938 of a Bentley 4 ¼ rolling chassis to be coachbuilt by Fritz Ramseier & Cie in Worblaufen Switserland into this well proportioned Continental 4-door Cabriolet.
Where most Derby Bentleys were coachbuilt by British coachbuilders such as Park Ward, Mulliner, Vanden Plas, Barker, Thrupp & Maberly, Freestone & Webb, etc...very few were coachbuilt by foreign carrossiers. Chassis B 125 LE is the only 4 ¼ Derby Bentley with Worblaufen body.
This unique, full aluminium built Worblaufen Continental 4-door Cabriolet is rated by many Bentley connoisseurs as one of the best looking Derby Bentleys ever produced. The styling is indeed very elegant: long sloping front wings with twin side mounted spare wheels, harmonious compact rear coachwork offering sufficient space (and fitted luggage) in the boot, very clever wind-up 2nd windscreen for very effective wind protection for the rear seated passengers, easy to erect double lined hood offering almost the same weather protection as in a saloon.
The excellent quality of construction (mechanics & coachwork) made sure this Bentley 4 ¼ litre aged very well. Because of the Bentley's unique character, this Continental 4-door Cabriolet was not driven that much (approx. 160.000 Km) and the very limited list of previous owners took very well care of their pride & joy. After the war this Bentley resided for a long time in the USA, where she won podium prizes at RR and Bentley Owners Club meetings and also at the top Concours D'Elegance meetings of Pebble Beach (2004) and Villa ' Este (2004).
Through a London sale from RM Auctions this Bentley ends up in Ireland and a bit later in Holland where a Dutch classic car specialist treats this Bentley in 2012 to a full restoration. The excellence of this work is crowned in 2013 at the Techno Classica show in Essen Germany with the "Best of Show" trophee.
This unique Bentley is still in absolute concours condition and is at the moment the "star" in my classic car showroom. I am sure she will also brighten up your garage and your life!

1977 JAGUAR XJ6 4.2Litre - Robert Hughes Automobiles

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM

 1977 JAGUAR XJ6 4.2Litre
£13, 995
A special factory order from new in Yellow Gold with Black hide, we have known this car for twenty plus years when we started servicing and maintaining it for the original owner. At that time it had covered just 15,000 miles. We eventually purchased the Jaguar and sold it on to the second  in 2003 and then again to the third owner in 2010. This striking an extremely unusual Jaguar  has been exhibited at NEC Classic Motor Show and featured in Jaguar Enthusiast magazine- it must surely be unique.. This car has never been subjected to heavy use, though it has been driven more regularly in recent year; yet still the present mileage is just 21,000 since new. Having been the sole dealer to handle the sale of this car after it was delivered new we are pleased to offer this exceptionally well cared for, very low mileage example once again.

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM
TECHNO CLASSICA ESSEN SALE
SATURDAY 18th APRIL 2015

 1936 DKW MEISTERKLASSE CABRIOLET

Estimate: €25,000 - €30,000
Registration Number: EU Registered
Chassis Number: M57156

In 1916, the Danish engineer Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen founded a factory in Saxony, Germany, to produce steam fittings. In the same year, he attempted to produce a steam-driven car, called the DKW. Although unsuccessful, he made a two-stroke toy engine in 1919, called Des Knaben Wunsch — “the boy's desire”. He also put a slightly modified version of this engine into a motorcycle and called it Das Kleine Wunder — “the little marvel”. This was the real beginning of the DKW brand: by the 1930s, DKW was the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer.

In 1932, DKW merged with Audi, Horch and Wanderer, to form the Auto Union. Auto Union came under Daimler-Benz ownership in 1957, and was finally purchased by the Volkswagen Group in 1964. The last DKW car was the F102 which ceased production in 1966; after this the brand was phased out.

DKW cars were made from 1928 until 1966. They always used two-stroke engines and, from 1931, the company was a pioneer in front-wheel drive and transverse mounting. The most well-known cars made before World War II, bearing model names F1 through F8 (F for Front), had front-wheel drive and a transversely mounted two-cylinder engine. Displacement was 600 or 700 cc, power was 18 to 20 hp (15 kW). These models also featured an innovation with a generator that doubled up as a self-starter, which was mounted directly on the crankshaft.
The example on offer here is a 1936 car, which has been part of a significant private UK collection of over 100 cars for almost ten years. The car was restored by a team of European specialists some 15 years ago and is described by the vendor as being museum quality.
Finished in red with contrasting black wings and a black hood, the interior seats and carpets are finished in black with a red dashboard fitted with white dials; all described as being in excellent order throughout. Supplied with a UK registration document and history file this sporty little European tourer is ready and waiting to be enjoyed by its new owner.

1956 CITROEN HY MOBILHOME + REMORGUE

The Citroën H Van, Type H, H-Type or HY is a light truck (or delivery van) produced by the French car maker Citroën between 1947 and 1981. It was developed as a simple front wheel driven van after World War II. A total of 473,289 were produced in 34 years in factories in France and Belgium. Most of them were sold in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. They were not sold in the UK in right hand drive. Citroen's teams worked on 8 projects and only the last one was developed, giving it its name : "H". Most Type H vans were sold as model HY. Other models include H (early versions), HX (lesser load capacity), HZ, and HW (greater load capacity). For a time they were also sold as model 1600. In France, this strange (or funny) looking van is known as "Nez de Cochon", "Pig Nose". When used by the police, it was called "panier à salade", "salad basket". The engine, gear box and many smaller parts are well known from other Citroën models. The engine and gearbox are nearly identical as in the Traction Avant and later the DS, only mounted with the engine to front. The head lights and speedometer were identical to the 2CV for many years. The distinctive corrugated body work was inspired by German Junkers (Aircraft) of the 1930s, the three engined Junkers Ju 52, being the last to use this construction. The ribs added strength without adding weight, and required only simple, low cost press tools. The flat body panels were braced on the inside by 'top hat' box sections, at right angles to the ribs. Rear hinged 'Suicide' cab doors were used until the end of production in 1981. 1935 CADILLAC 355E COUPE - HYMAN LTD 2310 Chaffee Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146, USA

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
Featuring

HYMAN  LTD
2310 Chaffee Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146, USA

1935 CADILLAC 355E COUPE

Still displacing 353 cubic inches but with power output now up to 130 brake horsepower at 3,400 rpm, Cadillac’s V-8s for 1935 came in three separate series, the Series 10 on a 128” wheelbase, Series 20 with 136” wheelbase and Series 30 with 146” wheelbase. There were thirteen designs available in the Fisher bodied Series 10 and 20 and they are some of the most attractively designed and well-proportioned body shapes of the Classic Era. They gracefully combine traditional classic design elements with the then emerging art and science of aerodynamics. None are more attractive than the 128” wheelbase Series 10 Coupe, a car that is gorgeously balanced and streamlined.
This 1935 Cadillac Model 355E Series 10 Coupe gracefully wears a proper older restoration, and shows consistent care and maintenance. Equipped with a V-8 and three-speed manual transmission, it has recently been refinished in an eye-catching cream yellow and has body color wire wheels, wide whitewall tires, a rear-mounted spare, rumble seat, Goddess radiator ornament and brown cloth interior. In sound running and driving condition, this very pretty and straight car has received all necessary attention when and as needed. With some of the most attractive and practical coachwork ever designed for a classic V-8 Cadillac, it is an incredibly usable and pleasing vintage automobile and a CCCA Fully Classic ™ that is eligible for the club’s many tours and events.

1904 AUTOCAR: DK Engineering

"CLASSIC OF THE DAY"
FROM
1904 Autocar at DK Engineering. Ready for the London to Brighton Run
1904 AUTOCAR
Autocar founder Louis Semple Clarke (1867–1957) was a successful mechanical engineer. Among Clarke's innovations were the spark plug for gasoline engines, a perfected drive shaft system for automobiles, and the first design of a useful oil circulation system. Clarke's insistence of placing the driver on the left hand side of the vehicle led to that standardization throughout most of the automotive industry worldwide. The patented porcelain-insulated spark plug process was sold to Champion and remains the industry standard. Clarke sold his interest in Autocar in 1929 and retired from business. He died in Palm Beach, Florida, on January 6, 1957, and is buried in Allegheny Cemetery, in Pittsburgh.
Autocar started in 1899 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania as a manufacturer of Brass Era automobiles, and from 1907, trucks. The last cars were produced in 1912, but the company continued as a truck maker until 1953 when they were taken over by the White Motor Company, to this day many trucks still bear the Autocar name.

The first car in 1900 was a single cylinder chain drive runabout and about 27 were made.
The 1904 Autocar was equipped with a tonneau, it could seat 4 passengers and sold for US$1700. The horizontal-mounted flat-2, situated at the front of the car, produced 11 hp (8.2 kW). This was a somewhat unusual engine design for the time, with most companies producing inline designs. A 3-speed transmission was fitted. The steel and wood-framed car weighed 1675 lb (760 kg). The early cars had tiller steering.

This particular 1904, chassis number 2509, was imported into the UK from the USA in 1999 and was registered on the old-style number of "MO7776" by which the car is well-known. The car is well-known in the Vintage Car Clubs and is a veteran of no less than 8 London to Brighton runs. The car completed the rather wet 60 mile journey in 2012 and finished with no problems or faults, since when the car has seen very little usage. The engine was rebuilt in 2005 and as such the car is ready for the 2013 run.
