1948 BENTLEY Mk VI PININFARINA

1£750,000 GBP
Year: 1948
Finished in Dark Green with contrasting Beige Hide Interior.
This beautiful and rare coach built motor car was a joint venture production between Facel-Metallon and Pininfarina in 1948. It is thought to be just one of two cars known to still exist with the original wider designed Pininfarina radiator grill. To add to the rarity and provenance records show that the whereabouts and ownership of the second car are unknown.
Reportedly there were a total of seventeen cars made, however only eleven can be identified beyond doubt by their chassis numbers.
Back ground history of these vehicles also reveals that just after production had started Bentley requested that Pininfarina modify the originally designed radiator grill bringing it “nearer to series standard ” in order for them to fully support the project and continue to supply the chassis, engines and special steering rake suitable for coach work with a low roof line.
The car could be described as one of the most important Bentleys ever created and arguably provides the missing link between the pre-war Bentley Corniche and the post-war Bentley Continental.
The car underwent a full restoration programme in the 1990′s and was carried out by a very well known and established specialist, accompanying the car is a detailed catalogue of photographs which show the restoration in progress and the reasons why the finished result is of the highest standards.
We would highly recommend a full inspection and test drive for you to fully appreciate the cars outstanding condition.
