1934 LAGONDA M45

This beautiful Lagonda M45 has been the personal transport of our founder Bob Fountain since he purchased it as a barn find in 2004.

AUF 77 is a 4.5 litre M45 built in 1934 and one of only two drop head coupes to be clothed in the elegant Sedanca de Ville body, considered by many to be the most attractive 'special order' coachwork ever to adorn an M45 chassis. Constructed & delivered by special order from Lancefield Coachworks of London, AUF 77 is the original registration number.

Fully restored by Aston Workshop during 2006-07 in preparation for her biggest adventure, The Peking Paris Challenge, a photographic record of which can be found here: http://www.aston.co.uk/peking_index/php

It features a straight cut gearbox and special high performance, 'dyno optimised' engine with all steel bottom end and all the correct internals. All modifications were undertaken as required with no expense spared. The result is a timeless, classic Lagonda that can cruise effortlessly and cover huge daily mileage at modern traffic speed.

Bob and his co-driver Joseph de Georgi successfully completed the Peking Paris Challenge, finishing in 14th position and were awarded a Silver medal, beating many seasoned rally competitors in the process.

Following the rally, the M45 was returned to the UK and completely overhauled to return her to pre-rally, “restored” condition, this included being fully re-painted.

Since then AUF 77 has been lovingly maintained and driven very occasionally in favourable weather conditions only.

A wonderful book was created by Aston Workshop to celebrate Lagonda the company, the history of this particular M45 and it’s involvement in the Peking Paris Challenge.

It has a huge, well documented history file including all original invoices and letters etc. The restoration was completed regardless of cost and a full breakdown of all work undertaken by Aston Workshop will form part of the history. This will be made available to interested parties at the time of viewing.
