1970 FORD Mk 1 ESCORT RALLY CAR
A unique opportunity to buy a beautiful car that was specially commissioned for the Peking Paris 2016 rally and built by the industry renowned Dave Jenkins.
With the highest specifications possible and all the latest competition upgrades for this vehicle type, this Mk 1 rally ready Escort is unlike any other and bears no relation to anything else on the market. Effectively brand new, never raced or rallied, with the all-important FIA log book, and competition ready, this car has a fully documented build history.
Due to a change of personal circumstances the vendor has very reluctantly placed this rally ready car up for sale.

Bodyshell
Newly built from a bare right hand drive shell, fully soda blasted, seam welded and fabricated to Group IV (legal) historic specification to include short rear links, turrets, gussets and all legal strengthening. Multi-point weld-in roll cage, steel wheel arches etc. and painted throughout to customer specification.
Interior
The car is wired to aircraft standard with custom loom, with full instrumentation and tripmeter on twin binnacle dashboard.
Sparco seats and TRS 3” full harness belts, flocked dash, suede steering wheel, heated front screen.
The whole car is piped in aeroquip hosing and connections to include brakes, fuel and oil lines.
Suspension & Brakes
Suspension is all Bilstein equipment to include turreted rear shock absorbers, front fully adjustable legs with alloy platforms and roller bearing top mounts.
Brakes are disc all round combination with AP Monte front calipers with vented disks on alloy bells, with twin rear calipers and solid discs, hydraulic handbrake and bias pedal box.
2.25:1 high ratio steering rack, world cup cross member and brackets.
Engine/Gearbox
Engine is an all steel 1700cc Sherwood crossflow unit running on twin 45 Webers carburettors with dry sump system and electronic ignition. Twin plate AP clutch, ZF 5 speed (overdrive) gearbox, quick released alloy bellhousing and single piece propshaft. Tony Law large bore manifold and exhaust system.
Axle
Rear axle is a wide Atlas unit running 5.1 Atlas limited slip differential and fitted with alloy brace. Latest specification 4 link and panhard rod mountings.
Misc
Boot area includes extra-long range alloy foam filled fuel tank, dry sump tank, twin facet fuel pumps, spare wheel post and competition battery.
Car runs on genuine Minilites (7” rear and 6” front), full length sump and gearbox guards.
The car has been built to comply with RACMSA Historic regulations and is currently in gravel specification. Car can easily be adapted to asphalt specification if required.
