1952 HRG 1500

The HRG Engineering Company also known as HRG was a British car manufacturer based in Tolworth, Surrey. Founded by Major Edward Halford, Guy Robins and Henry Ronald Godfrey, its name was created from the first letter of their surnames.

Mr Godfrey already gained experience in the motor trade with GN cycle cars which he started in 1910 together with Frazer Nash. When Mr Nash started Frazer Nash in the late twenties, Godfrey approached Halford and later Robins, and HRG was born in 1935.

The idea was to develop a sports car like in the earlier days when sports cars were still genuine, uncompromised by the demand for more luxury of the main public. Bentley, Aston Martin and even Frazer Nash, all caved in to develop more comfortable tourers when HRG stayed true to the initial concept.

In 1938, the company announced the 1100cc model and later even the 1500cc with Singer powerplants. Both models were driven by OHC Singer engines and replacing the OHV Meadows units from before.

Although the company experienced with special versions like the Le Mans and the aerodynamic cars, the two main models were the 1100 and the 1500cc open tourers until 1956.

They are quite famous for participating in events like the Le Mans 24hours, Alpine rally, Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps.

HRG produced cars their thoroughbred sports cars from 1935 until 1956. They made 241 cars in total where 225 believed to have survived. Many of which are still used today in various motorsport events.

The company made a profit every year until they closed the doors in 1966 as an engineering company. They worked for Volvo and made a prototype Vauxhall VX 4/90-powered sports car.

The HRG we have for sale is a 1952 1500cc sports car. The car has been in the family since 1964 and even invoices before that date are available. The son had the car restored by Roach Manufacturing in the late ‘00s where they restored everything from the chassis up. The bodywork has been repaired, the original type Singer engine fitted and everything on the car has been overhauled.

All of this results in a perfectly restored car, ready for you to take on a trip, rally or even a race. The car hasn’t been driven much since the restoration and is looking for a new owner who will love the car as much as the previous owners did.

Do you want to own a completely restored, no-nonsense sports car? This might be the car for you!

1961 GSM DELTA
I am selling this delightful little period sportscar on behalf of my father

It's a 1961 GSM Delta !!

Designed by South African racing drivers come sports boat builders 166 cars produced in South Africa by Willie Meissner and Bob Van Niekert
76 were produced in West Malling in Kent by a subsidiary of the South African company. Badged the dart in South Africa and the delta over here due to legal reasons ( Daimler), the Gsm was one of the first production fibreglass cars.

These cars were bred for racing back in the period and regularly beat Colin Chapmans lotus 7 on track

The engine in this car is a 1500cc Ford Cortina gt pre crossflow unit that has been fully rebuilt. It features large valve unleaded cylinder head with steel rocker pedestals and new rocker shaft, valves, and guides. The block has been honed with new pistons and rings. The bottom end rotational gear has been fully balanced and a Newman PH3 camshaft is fitted to take advantage of the twin Italian weber DCOE40s

The gearbox is 4-speed cortina It mated to the engine with lightened flywheel, new ring gear, and clutch kit.

Custom stainless exhaust

The car comes with a hardtop, side screens, and tonneau cover

Solid steel ford rims

Disc brakes upfront and drums rear

Purchased new in 1961 by Michael Hampton for £700 originally built with a 1000cc and raced at brands coming second to last behind a sprite, the driver got scared after coming off at paddock hill and sold the car. It was overtaken by Sir Stirling Moss and John Surtees several times at brands in the period.

Geoff Uren also raced one.

A very interesting and rare car with huge scope for historic motorsport, HRDC Allstars competitor and Goodwood potential. The overall condition is very good throughout having been restored to a high standard in the past and carefully stored with little use since.

A very large history folder comes with the car detailing ownership and history from its early years, several articles on the marque and their racing pedigree.

1976 FERRARI 308 GTB VETRORESINA -,Will Stone Historic Cars Ltd Marlborough Wiltshire UK

Will Stone Historic Cars Ltd

1976 FERRARI 308 GTB VETRORESINAChassis 19237

Unveiled at the 1975 Paris Auto Salon, the all-new 308GTB heralded a change of direction at Ferrari opening a whole new market for the esteemed manufacturer. Rightly regarded as iconic and era-defining this compact and clean Pininfarina design was to stand the test of time and you don’t need to squint to see its DNA in the hugely coveted 288 GTO! A notable aspect of the early 308GTB was that, although still built by Scaglietti, the car's bodywork was made entirely of fibreglass, allowing for a very light weight of just over 2,300 lbs. These early fibreglass cars also featured dry-sump lubrication derived from Ferrari's racing experience. Just 712 of these first series, lightweight 308GTB's were produced until June of 1977.

The 3 Litre DOHC V8 motor introduced as a replacement for the V6-powered 246 Dino has powered a model-range that still runs to this day, the current Ferrari 488 being the latest iteration. With the power-plant placed transversely above the rear axle, these cars have proven to be very agile handlers being so well balanced.

Chassis 19237 was completed in May 1976 and was supplied to the first owner via the dealership in Palermo, Sicily. In January 1979, 19237 was registered in the name of Giuseppa Ippolito who retained ownership until 1989 when it passed with approximately 22,000 kms to the renowned collection of Ferrari enthusiast Giorgio Schon. The cherished collection was based in Milan and all the cars were meticulously looked after and serviced regularly. Schon used the 308 very sparingly adding around 2000 kms in 24 years!!

In October 2012, Ferrari’s Classiche department awarded the red book certification to 19237 and to this day it is in superb original condition. Sold by ourselves to the current owner in 2014 it is a pleasure to have back one of the most iconic yet undervalued Ferraris.
