1969 WOLSELEY HORNET

In the original Wolseley Hornet sales brochure the car was described as a small car with a big inside, big enough for family motoring, big enough for long distance touring where comfort and luggage capacity are essentials. The Hornet was also described as nimble, in traffic there is acceleration that leaves uncertainty behind and braking that reassures. On the open road, from A to B, the ability to cruise at high speed and to corner well makes the Hornet hard to beat. The exceptional economy of B.M.C mini motoring and the altogether outstanding road performance that goes with it are now so well-known as to become significant of a new and refreshing way of motoring. Lively acceleration, excellent road holding and cornering characteristics, together with compact dimensions to facilitate manoeuvring and parking are features which have never before seen so effectively combined in a four seat saloon.
On the road our Wolseley Hornet, ALX165H drives as described in the models sales brochure. Its rebuilt engine does offer impressive performance with very good acceleration and the Wolseley really does handle superbly. The Hornet has arrived with current MOT test until December 2015 but will be fully prepared in our workshop leaving with a full 12 months MOT, full service, function check and warranty. The Wolseley has a smooth gear change, brakes feel very sharp and the steering very direct and correct. According to previous MOT's the Hornet has only covered 1300 miles since 2010 and is certainly a car capable of regular or even daily use.
ALX165H presents well with a stunning, gleaming paint finish. The panels are straight, there are no rust blemishes showing and the overall finish is first class. The paintwork is of a very high standard, chrome work is largely original and very bright and the Wolseley has a period rood rack fitted that really finishes the car off nicely. The seats have been re-trimmed at some stage and we have the Hornet booked in with our local trimmer for a new headlining, carpet set and some detailed trim improvements. Our asking price includes the upholstery work but the car can be viewed and secured prior to this work being carried out. Please call first to make an appointment as the vehicle may be with the upholsterer.
