1929 HUPMOBILE MODEL M ROADSTER
The Hupmobile was an American car brand from 1909 to 1941, founded by Robert C. Hupp, a former employee of Oldsmobile and Ford.
In 1911, just two years after its establishment, Hupp left the firm by disagreements with his financial partners. His later attempts to build cars like the RCH, the Hupp-Yeats Electric, Monarch and Emerson were not successful. The Hupp Motor Corporation was quite a success, under the policy of his former partners.
The Hupmobile was built in Detroit, Michigan, and after the company’s Chandler-Cleveland Motors Corporation took over in 1928 because of their higher production capacity, production was continued in Cleveland.
From 1930 it went gradually downhill with the brand. The company made the same mistake as many other car manufacturers in those days; by pulling on the provision of many different designs, in attempt buyers as much as possible, the production cost remained too high to make a lot of profit.
In the late 30’s and early 40, in a last attempt to save the plant, Hupmobile used, in partnership with the brand Graham-Paige, the body design of the last Cord. It proved unsuccessful, the Graham Hollywood and the Hupmobile Skylark were the last models built by the respective companies. In total, about 561,464 Hubmobiles were built.
By Lex, Classics is for sale this beautiful and unique Hupmobile Model M Roadster, equipped with a rumble seat (additional sitting in the back for two people). This Hubmobile is equipped with a powerful 5 litres 8 cylinder in-line engine and a manual gearbox with three forward gears. Leather beige/grey interior with beige luxury carpet and a fantastic Art Deco dashboard. The beautiful light brown soft top is also equipped with separate side windows which can be easily dismantled.
The Roadster has all the features and is equipped with two spare wheels in the front fenders, beautifully painted steel wheels, whitewall tires, wooden steering wheel, luggage rack with a suitcase at the back and carved additional side windows to windshield. This Hupmobile was restored completely and very professionally in Paraguay, an impressive photo reportage of the restoration is present by us.
This Hupmobile is registered at the Hupmobile registry in America and concerns only one of the four registered cars. Since 2000, this Hupmobile is owned by a Dutch collector, the car has a Dutch license. This Roadster is available in our showroom and you are very welcome to come and see this.
