1932 MORRIS LC3 TYPE R
1932 Morris Type R Van. Tweed grey with black upholstery. The R-type was introduced in 1928 as the 25 cwt Super to fill a gap in the market between the T-type (1-ton capacity) and TX-type (30 cwt capacity). Throughout its 5-year production run, it was subject to a number of changes. In 1929, the capacity was increased to 30 cwt and it was renamed as the Middleweight Champion. For 1931 a second, longer chassis variant powered by a larger 17.9hp engine was introduced. However later in 1931, both variants were superseded by the R11/30, R11/40 & R13/40 variants. By the cessation of production in 1933, over 17,700 R, R11, R13, RP (bus) and RD (45/50 cwt capacity bulk carrier) chassis had been manufactured.
Originally supplied to Lincoln Council Roads and Bridges Department on 12th October 1932 and then registered on the 6th December 1932, it was used by them for just over 5 years and then it was refurbished and then used by the County Surveying Dept. The van still displays the original registration plate that itself is very valuable and can be transferred if required but we think it would be a real shame if this was to happen. It was sign written for previous but this can be easily removed and replaced with your own company details if required, we have a very good traditional signwriter that we regularly use. It starts on the button, drives well with a strong engine and correctly operating gearbox and has been driven to various shows over recent years. Just waiting to be enjoyed in new hands this van would be a welcome addition to any collection. The whole concept of purchasing a light commercial for private classic motoring combined with its advertising potential is one we have enjoyed for many years and proved to be an enormous success. Without doubt the most economical and successful form of advertising known to man! On test drive the van performed very well with no faults. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. Viewing is highly recommended. Please call for further information. Delivery can be arranged.
