1960 AUSTIN A40 FARINA COUNTRYMAN
1960 Austin A40 Farina Countryman, this is now a very rare
car, the Countryman features the two piece rear opening hatch and
folding rear seat, giving a very good sized load area for a small car.
This example is pretty original with all the original interior trim (apart from a new set of carpets), which is in good order, the seats have had new innards, but retain the original covers, so they look right and are comfortable!
It would appear from the extensive paperwork that comes with the car that the engine was rebuilt in 1995, since when it has only done 5000 miles, it certainly fires easily and runs very sweetly.
The paperwork also shows new inner and outer sills and rear floors were fitted in 2002 along with repair sections to the steel front wings around the headlights. The rear springs were also replace then.
The car is still very sound, all the panels are steel, with apparently very little filler, the paintwork is reasonable, but the finish could be better in places.
The tyres appear to have been recently replaced.
This should be a fun, practical and unusual car to use everyday or gently improve and take to the odd show.
The car will be sold with a new MoT and full service.
