1971 MORRIS MINOR GPO VAN

The Morris Minor van and pick-up were produced from 1953 until the end of Minor production in 1972. They differed from the monocoque design of the saloon and traveller by having a separate chassis. They were popular with small and large businesses and many were used by the GPO.

This is an original GPO van, rather than a recreation and was originally used in the Guilford area. It was purchased by its last owner as an excellent original vehicle and has subsequently been restored to “better than new” standard. The rear doors and front wings were replaced but the shell has never been welded. The attention to detail is outstanding right down to correct new “link” floor mats, oversize “GPO” spec battery and battery holder and correct original insignia, decals and plates. There is a photographic record of the re-build where every component has been replaced with new or re-furbished, including new braking system, wiring harness, powder coated suspension, re-built and balanced unleaded engine by Quasar engineering and “Peter Cavanah” gearbox. In the interests of driveability it has been fitted with Wolsesley 1500 front drums and saloon car differential. The wheels are correct 4 1/2 J, fully refurbished in the correct silver with new tyres.

As you can see from the under bonnet photos, this van is as close to perfect as you could get. It would cost substantially more than the asking price to replicate and would not look out of place in any collection.

Unique!
