An eye-catching original UK RHD Big Healey and a ‘matching numbers’ car. An original, and rare, dealer 1960 Liege-Rome-Liege winners boot badge. A reliable starter in good driving condition, still on relatively low mileage and with recent maintenance work and upgrades.

Build Details:

Chassis No: H-BT7/13643
Eng No: 29D-RU-H/25617
Colour: Colorado Red, Black trim
Build: 15 March-11 April 1961
Despatch: 4 May 1961 to Car Mart, London

History:

V5C & Heritage Certificate
Invoices going back through present ownership (last 7 years)
MoT certificates from 2010
Present mileage: 3286 (103286)
MoT test: to Sept 2018 (now exempt but can be renewed)
Bumpers removed and rally over-riders fitted to the rear

In the present - and only 3rd - ownership for some 7 years and during that time both maintained and enjoyed as a competent driving Healey. Invoices show the parts purchased and work carried out over the past years and include an overdrive rebuild, alternator conversion, Kenlowe cooling fan, brake servo conversion, hi-torque starter motor and other maintenance and upgrades including some bodywork (OS sill, bonnet refurb etc), new classic-style seatbelts and smart 72-spoke chrome wheels. Invoices also show the rally-look conversion items including front grille, front spots and rear (wally) lamp. ‘Sally’ was prepared to star in a web series comedy road movie called ‘Wrong Side’ based loosely on the Pat Moss win across central Europe.

‘7539’ starts easily on the hi-torque starter and shows good oil pressure. Gear changes are smooth and positive, the steering direct and slop free. She pulls well on the road, sounding very nice, and the overdrive engages smoothly but quickly. The servo-assisted brakes pull her up strongly and nice and straight. Overall a nice Healey on the road and a pleasure to drive.

In summary, an attractive Healey 3000 which looks smart in the rally look – including of course the expensive hardtop! Well-maintained, she starts and drives very well. Even if you are not a purist, this Mk1 offers the buyer an evocative rally look combined with a strong driving experience and options to simply enjoy as-is or to further improve.

£55,000 ovno
