1963 LAND ROVER SERIES IIA PICK-UP
Nothing lasts forever but some very good things come very close.

Although production ceased in January of 2017, Land Rover's Defender production spanned a whopping 67 years, bucking fashion trends whilst somehow epitomising them and is fast becoming one of the most collectable classics of the modern era.

Influenced by Willy’s Jeeps of WWII, the first Land Rover arrived in 1948. Customers quickly discovered that this car could tackle just about any landscape and look darn good doing it with its own level of certain sophistication.

This level of charm and usability gave rise to unprecedented levels of demand for the early cars with owners ranging from the Queen, fire departments and even Hollywood after a Series IIA made an appearance in the 1960’s classic Born Free.

After the huge success of the first model, Land Rover created the Series II and subsequently the updated IIA, both carried a reputation as the hardiest models ever constructed, and still do.

The Land Rover Series IIA carried some significant differences to its predecessor, the headlights were now mounted in the fenders, an uprated 2.6 litre 6 cylinder petrol engine became optional and key start was now available as standard.

Exclusively available here is a bespoke Series IIA Utility 109 originally sold to the South Australian Department of Health according to its original bill of sale and presents today in fantastic and recently refurbished turn-key condition.

Although the Series IIA may not be the fastest car on earth, it sure did have a lot of grunt, it’s easy to use and this specific model offers ample space for passengers and plenty of cargo across the rear timber deck.

With all new seating, carpets, head liner and refurbished interior instrumentation this spartan classic looks stunning finished in period correct Marine Blue with cream roof and matching wheels. There isn’t another like it.

Now celebrated as a timeless automotive icon, interest in classic Land Rovers is growing toward an all-time high, and early examples like this hard to find and excellently prepared Series IIA are fetching record prices around the world.

Now is the time to experience why these early series Land Rovers are so popular and with production officially ceased, there will never be another like it.

Australian delivered, in fantastic condition, accompanied by its original log books and owner’s manual and with great provenance this Series IIA is one for the savvy collector.
