1964 DAIMLER V8 250
Registration No: BFH 809B

First registered in October 1964 (B reg) this Daimler V8 250 was supplied by Kingscote and Stephens of Gloucester to Guest Keen and Nettlefold (GKN) presumably as a Company Car. We have applied for a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate to confirm the build details of this car, but we believe the colour scheme to be period and original. Two owners have been recorded since 1994 and three prior to that, so five in total from new. Given the age of the car it is impossible to warrant the mileage, however, given the car's condition, we believe the mileage is likely to be correct. The 2.5 V8/V8-250 was produced by Daimler in the United Kingdom from 1962 to 1969. It was the first Daimler car to be based on a Jaguar platform and the first Daimler car with a unit body, and the last Daimler car to feature a Daimler engine after the company was bought from the Birmingham Small Arms Company by Jaguar Cars in 1960. The engine is the hemispherical head V8 designed by Edward Turner and first used in the Daimler SP250 sports car. The Daimler V8 engine was more compact and lighter than the Jaguar XK6 engine used in the Mark 2, and weighed approximately 1 long cwt less. Spring and damper settings were revised accordingly to suit the altered weight distribution. The Daimler's Borg-Warner Type 35 automatic transmission was smaller and lighter than the units used on the Mark 2 and had strong engine braking in each gear range. Along with the car we have numerous invoices for maintenance spares and repair going back to the early 1980's. In our opinion this a very good example of the first edition (pre-1967 car) that would appear to have been well maintained throughout its life. The Daimler V8 engine does in, our opinion, make this car a better driver than the 2.4 Litre Jaguar alternative. Ready to be enjoyed and supplied with a new 12 months MoT at sale.
